When I had my tank recall done last month, I asked the service manager to look into this for me. He told me that he talked to the MOCO and they told him that they were getting closer to a fix. You might not like what the MOCO has in mind though... the fix, apparently, is going be some kind of frame rail or pieces of plastic that attach to the frame under the seat in order to keep the seat pan from flexing. After months of R&D to fix a seat that should be recalled, this is the answer? If this is true, ya gotta be freakin' kiddin' me! Or not, seeing how the tank recall was just a couple pieces of plastic. FTMOCO!

I do not know if it is classified as a fix, they replaced my seat and the new one does not flex as much as the original. If it stays the way it is Im satisfied.

I also got a "modified" seat 2 month ago and on the way back home it was ok and it seems to be stiffer , Back home i put my signature seat on the bike again and that`s the way it stays .

It has taken me three months of letter writing, picture sending and follow up but I have finally made some progress with Harley. They (MOCO) said to take my bike to a dealer for review and they would call the dealer with a reference number. I did as asked and the Service Manager took more pictures and advised he would contact Harley the next day. Harley has authorized a replacement seat at this time. The Service Manager advised me it was going to be the same seat and did I really want to have it replaced. Unbelievable. Answer was YES order a new seat. Haven't received it yet and do not know if it's going to fix the problem but when I do I will follow up to everyone. Don't stop fighting for a replacement. Marty

:confused5:   Have you been reading the posts from the SESG folks about their seats?  Same problem, and same BS response from H-D.  Eventually they will probably add little stand-offs either to the plastic seat pan or the frame rails to let the frame support the cheap plastic seat pan so it won't bow, and the gap issue will finally be fixed.  Won't make the seat any more comfortable, however.

This topic has some history here. The gap has been known as a replacement issue with MOCO for some time. My seat was happily relpaced a year ago. here is an older link.;  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32923.0  :drink:

My first replace wasn`t a step further , it was just the same seat , the second one seems to be better ( hanging at the garage-storage-edge ) .

He's talking about a stock SG seat not a SESG seat...

That he had some custom work done to it...

Which turned out looking great. :2vrolijk_21:

Got a replacement as well, now lying in the garage. It took more
than 2hours and then the gap was the same as before. I'm still
using the saddlemen explorer, for me this is it.

Put a Street Glide seat on and no more problems.  :2vrolijk_21:

That's what I did and it rubs on the tank. Now I have scuff marks on the tank. T.
