Front Brakes
« on: January 28, 2010, 09:05:20 PM »

2010 SERG, 270 miles.  Heck of a clunk in the front (about 60-80% of the time when the brakes are applied.  I can grab the rotors, push and pull on them, there is the clunk.  Checked a new bike on the showroom floor today... same problem.  Anyone else have this problem?  Dealer is checking with HD on this.

Several threads discussed this. Here's one.

I noticed mine only did it the first time going forward after backing up.

Hi guys,

Had the same from the front end of my 07serk, turned out to be the floating brake rotors, although you cant feel it by hand there is a certain
amount of play, this allows for better heat removal and allows for a certain amount of run out. They are doing what they are designed to do.

Ride safe.

Thanks for your inpur guys.  My clunk is definitely the rotors when the front brakes are applied.  In my case you CAN get the rotors to clunk by hand.  I have floaters on another bike with no problems.
