Do you lose or gain low to mid-range torque with the 54 cam?  I am not really concerned about hp.

@Steve: coincidence or religion  ;)

@Doc:

FLHTCUSE4 2009
27713-08 HIGH FLOW 58MM EFI THROTTLE
27796-08 HIGH FLOW INJECTOR KIT, 58MM
25475-06 SE 260 CAM KIT
32109-08A SE PRO SUPER TUNER
091-1742-517 Kess-Tech 2in2 FL2 TC110 09up
29515-08 KIT, SE STAGE 1 A/C 58MM (K&N Filter used instead of SE)
22502-07 KIT, PIST, 110 H/C FORGED
16505-01 KIT, CYLINDER STUD, TC88
CAT removed

the bike so far runs fairly nice but between 2800 and 3000 rpm hesitates to accelerate - a sharp loss of torque. Apart from this no other issues, leaks or consumes no oil, plugs ok, compression ok, fuel-consumption is around 7 l/km (33,6 mpg). AFR-optimation (via supertuner autotune) changed little. 6.000 m as of Dec 27.

Gratefull for any suggestion  ::)

As my last bike (103 FLHRCI 05) ended up in a casualty with the 3rd engine (all 3 exchanged under warranty) I don't want any non-OEM-parts or head-works done before the warranty expires mid of 2011 ;)

Does the MOCO really look to see if the heads have been polished if there is am emgine failure?

they don't have to look as my dealer will know it  ;)

And it's quite likely the MoCo will look, as each time one of my engines broke down they wanted the entire engine to be sent back to them for scrutiny, I forgot to mention.

The 58mm throttle body and the 260 cam will take a lot away from your low end performance, however at 2800 to 3000 rpm the bike should be ready to pull your arms out. I would have to say your flat spot is in your tune. I also would see if the injectors are too large by doing a data run on the dyno.....at 6000 rpm the pulse width should be around 12ms to 16ms not exceeding 18ms, or you can check it at 3000 rpm's which should be in the area of 24 to 32 not exceeding 36ms. If your below those areas yo umight have some fueling problems in the lower rpm range.
Like I said before the 251 cam is about the most aggressive cam Harley makes....it pulls well down low and all through the rpm range. It might be a little small for the 110'' however it's ALWAYS better to under cam than over cam, your throttle responce will be MUCH better.

Thanks for your advice Doc, will do data run as soon as the global warming arrives in eastern Germany  ;)

Dyno-tuning is a real problem this side of the pond - almost nobody has sufficient experience with the H-D-tuning tools - everybody over here used PC when neccessary. First Supertuner-course for German dealers was last November. Nobody dares to touch the spark-tables, only AFR.

And my excuses for  :jack: of course  ;)

Heres a dyno test of a 2010 CVO ultra. Stock VS stage I VS Stage II with 54 cams.
Same bike, same tank of gas within 24 hours.
Ignore the numbers and look at the TQ lines. From 2500 up the 54s take over.

Hmmm, point made  ;)

And I note the "depression" around 3000 rpm with stock config ...

Andrews 54 is my fav. Andrews 37, Woods Tw7 and the CR 575 are good bolt in cams too.

Steve
I was thinking you would need to bump compression slightly with a thinner head gaskit for the andrews 54. Or will it perform just fine without doing any other mods? It looks like it really starts to come on around 2400rpms. Or do you really feel the torque coming on slightly lower around 2100 or 2200rpms. Do a lot of mountain riding 2up and I want to be able to pass going up hill. Leaning toward the andrews 54 or the CR 575.

The Andrews 54 is a good bolt in with or with out the .030 gaskets. The tighter squish improves combustion efficientcy.
Earlier torque? I just got a +4 gear for Andrews. I really think the 54 with a +4 gear is going see 100 FT around 2300 RPM. Just haven't had the opportunity to
try it yet.

Is there another option for heat shields on your B X-pipe headers?  I just really don't like the look of the H-D stock heat shields.  How about something along the lines of the V & H....

Here's a dyno comparison of the Fullsac X pipe VS the OEM non cat headpipe.

Test Bike was an 09 Bagger with a 107" kit, Stock heads, Andrews 54 cams, Heavy Breather AC, Stock mufflers recored with 2.0 cores.
Dyno runs were completed within a 2 hour period, same tank of gas.
I mention this because weather and fuel variations can have a huge effect on dyno numbers.
Full throttle fuel curve was actually slightly rich through the midrange and adjusted accordingly.
Bottom end torque increase was "really noticeable" as reported by owner Nick on his 180 mile ride home to Vegas.

Run 55, stock non cat headpipe.
Run 75, Fullsac X pipe, "B" version.

Hi Steve, I have a SESG coming in 6 weeks and wanna by my exhaust now. I have been reading all your stuff and trying to get as educated as possible before I ask you. so here it goes

-B X-pipe or Jackpot 2 1/2 headers? someone sent me their website last nite and dont know the diff
-Is the B X-pipe 2 1/2? or? I dont see them on your website, I am either dumb or blind, or both....
-Are both compatible with the V&H Hi Output slip ons?
-or maybe go with the V&H power duals but I hate the heat shield look
-If I went Fullsac or Jackpot, I dont want to use the stock heat shield as I dont like the look, suggestions?
-Then the TTS Mastertune:) and I have heard I dont need to change out my Air cleaner?

so, x-pipe, Hi output slipons and a TTS and I am good to go?

i dont think i wanna start with cams and such but the andrews 54 seem to be what you recommend.

do I by my slipons thru you or thru someone else?

thanx for listening

mj

PS. can I change this out the day I pick up the bike? some have said I should wait a thousand miles:(

Special thanks to Nick Mallas of Las Vegas for riding with a Fullsac!
