Brackets by Brad - Reinforce your Vertical Fairing Braces
« on: February 03, 2010, 09:16:02 PM »

Bagger Fairings need reinforcement! To sure up those vertical braces a pair of "brackets by brad" will do the trick. flhse (Brad), a forum member, made me a set of horizontal brackets that mount between the main vertical fairing braces above and below the radio and they really tightened things up. Before your vertical braces crack, or you experience radio problems (I experienced both problems), or if you just want to strenghten things up and minimize vibration, I highly recommend contacting flhse (Brad) about a set of these brackets. The set I received were painted black, pre-tapped for 1/4 - 20 bolts, and fit perfectly using existing holes in your vertical fairing braces. He made them quickly and shipped them to my door.

Good idea Tom..... I will take a look the next time I open her up. There is still snow on the ground here but the sun has been peeking out and it makes me want to just get on a ride.  I can't wait till SPRING!

Rick,

The brackets Brad made are a really nice addition and should help to fortify what we all know is a poor design by the moco. I am trying to keep my newly repaired HK Advanced Audio System from another vibration created failure in the future.

I changed out the right one on a friend's Ultra last weekend.  Helluva job, just to change a bracket!

Still wouldn't be a bad idea to go back in there and add these brackets, they slip in between the left and right vertical braces above and below the radio. The difference is noticeable.

Jim,

It is a helluva job, hope you got the upgraded version that is strengthened at the top (right angle) where it bolts to the inner fairing. Still not that big a deal to go back in there and add the brackets for more support.

A friend is on his third bracket, not a member here, but I'll pass this on. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I'll mention it to my friend, Tom!

Do these replace the stock brackets? Where do they go. Any pictures?
Thanks

Dave,

They don't replace the stock braces, they fit between the stock vertical braces and bolt in through existing holes in those braces above and below the radio.

The brackets flhse (Brad) made for me are a little nicer design and are painted black. See my first post in this thread.

Tom:

I guess this means the braces arrived.  Did you get the radio back?  I'm glad you like them, you should see a big difference when everything is back in and the bike is running.  I'll be looking for your comments when you are riding the bike.  Like I said, it made a big difference in the way my bike rode without the fairing vibration and the radio still works!   :bananarock:
