Daytona to Key West

Going to be in Daytona for bike week and then down to Key West. What is the best route to the Keys and what to do/see/eat along the way.

In a hurry, or do you want to see things?  I'd do Highway 1.  It winds around and you may want to look where it goes before riding it.  Once you get too much past Homestead you really don't have many options!

Take the Card Sound Road, toll...right past Alabama Jacks, try and find the no name pizza shop too...
If taking the turnpike, sawgrass expy highways in soflo get a  "sun pass" toll widget lets you roll on without stopping for tolls...

Lots of popo so beware your speed....slow ride from Largo to KW... :drink:

Roger on the popo. Just made the trip to Key West. Locals, sherrifs, smokey bears everywhere. 'Course if you're behind an RV or 18 wheeler it doesn't much matter.

Just a tip. You may want to bypass Highway 1 from south Miami to Homestead. Over 100 stoplights and nothing to see. :nervous:

i think its about 450 miles from daytona to kw. id haul to homestead then enjoy the keys :bananarock:

Lights are in most towns along the way on US1.  There are nice gaps but it would take all day to get to Miami from Dtona on us1.

I live in 3 hours south of Dtona in Palm Beach county...

It takes me 6 hours to ride to Key West. 8 if I do it right...at least 10 hours of mostly haulin ass to get from Dtona to KW with gas stops only...

Thanks for the info sounds like I will be on the interstate and not US 1 so I can make it to the Key's in a day.

You might consider riding the bikes down US 1 to the Vero/Sybastian inlet area then jumpin on the highway down to homestead.   :nixweiss:

You have to go through,New Smyrna, Titusville, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Palm Bay...So I'd guess bout 50-60 lghts...Slide out onto A1A for fewer lights and a 35 mpg speed limit with popo everywhere.  :nixweiss:

I 95 seems to be the best way to go to make the best time to the Keys.  Thanks for all the info.
