California's Amber Alert Signs "SHARE THE ROAD. LOOK TWICE FOR MOTORCYCLISTS."

Noticed these messages throughout NorCal 2010 Presidents weekend on all Amber Alert signs we passed. Took a couple of pictures at the Yosemite turnoff but the lettering did not show up.

Get your "Motor Running Head", out on the highway!

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

Yeah, noticed them here in the Southern end of the state also.

We also have some new signs:
Tsunami Warning! With an arrow pointing away from the ocean!!! It says "Go to higher ground!" DUH!

Wish more states would post signs warning to watch for Motorcycles.  ANY help is a good thing.  Not everyone would notice the sign, but maybe some would.

Lane splitting with drag pipes works pretty good though. :vrolijk27:  Doc

I was up and down the state over the four days and I noticed the signs up on the electronic information signs all up and down the state.  Didn't have one close call after 900 miles so they must be working. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm confused what you meant by Amber Alert......I didn't see any of those this weekend. :nixweiss:

I think the vehicle code says that "two vehicles can share the same lane"  so the sign should read "Share the Lane."  Lane splitting started as a way keeping the old fashion air cooled bikes from overheating in traffic. Now that a majority of bikes are wet it probably isn't as important as it once was...oops, am I on the right site ??   Doc

It does grow on you though.  You start out puckering at 20 MPH and within a year it's splitting at 80 MPH because the guy ahead of you is only doing 70

For the LA area and the bay area it's a way of life.  None of us like it, but we all do it. :nixweiss:

  • Life's a journey, why not enjoy the ride?

Signs are great, but unfortunately the size limits it to only English.............supposes that all can at least read English....bad assumption! :nixweiss: :soapbox:

I thought the state installed all of those electronic signs as part of the Amber Alert System? :nixweiss:

Those signs were up long before the Amber Alert law was passed.  For years they've warned of the passes over the Sierra Nevada mountains being opened or closed, chains required, etc.  Also in the bay area, during accidents, bridge closures, etc.

I think the Amber Alert was the first notices to be posted that were not road related, though.
