The dash pad is held by 2 bolts from inside the fairing. The ZUMO cradle is then attached via 2 more bolts that run from inside the airing to the cradle on the dash pad. So you have in effect, 4 bolts now holding the cradle to the fairing

Hey Eric,
On the sumo Forums and here a couple a guys have had their 660/665 fall outta the cradle.  I ordered the parts for your install (most excellent by the way)  all the parts should be here around June 7-10.  Question is (see link below) do ya think this lockin mount will clear the windshield?  The rep says there is only 1mm thickness so it goes Touratec mount (1mm sheet)then the cradle.  It;s longer on the sides and slightly taller.  I ordered one anyways and just couldn't wait to see for myself.  Check it out:

I have been off roading and over several huge bumps with my 660, over 8,000 miles on the bike with it, it has never even wiggled. I might suspect that the few units that have fallen out, were not properly in the cradle in the first place. After popping my unit in, I grab it by the sides and pull and twist to be sure it clicks in. I have heard it click after I thought it was already locked in, when I did this quick check of pulling and twisting.

Opossum,
Looks like it should clear the stock windshield.  I definitely like my 550's latch with the security screw!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Eric, any vibration on the 550 with the pad fairing mount?  On my 05 Road Glide I had the HD fairing mount with a Quest and it tended to vibrate.  I checked the spec's on the Garmin site and looks like the 550 is about an ounce heavier, not sure if that would make any difference though.
