2010 SECU Dash (Garmin) Mount?
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:21:47 PM »

Anyone come across the "mid Year" CVO Garmin GPS Dash mount?  Can't find one anywhere...  Clean looking mount into/thru the dash pad.

Have you asked your dealer? I'd be interested what they have to say.

Checked with my dealer's Parts Manager and he called the factory rep.  Parts listing and availability aren't out yet but he'll keep an eye on it and let me know.  I'll post as soon as I hear anything.

 ;) ;)

My dealer said the part for the new Black CVO and the 660 in the leather dash pad won't be released until they are shipping the mid-year black.  The HD web page says it is an exclusive featue of the Black mid year.  Sure would like to get the 550 of the handle bars and the new 660(or even the 665) in the dash.

Be prepared for more vibration of the Zumo's screen when mounted to the bat wing dash vs mounting to the handlebar. It's also a longer reach which in the end you may find is less convenient that having the Zumo mounted to the handle bar.

I had not thought about the vibration issue.  Didn't you have a very nice and detailed thread for what to get and how to mount the GPS????

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated.

I'd sure be intersting in one of these also. Do not like having anything installed on the handlebar, but the vibration issue is some food for thoughts...

 :) :) :) ??? ???

Two of my riding buddies moved there Zumo 550 from their handle bars toe the dash on their 2010 Ultra's and have had no problem with vibration relative to the handlebars.

Vibrations may be reduced with the additional moto mount.  I know my wifes 96ci 2007 Road King shakes much more than my 110ci 2010 SESG.  Maybe we can hear from those with 2009/2010 bikes that have dash mounted GPS.

For those that might be interested, here's my thread on mounting a Zumo 550 to the handlebar of my 2010 SE Ultra.

Went to my servicing dealer today, the guy who knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING (and is very humble) said it should be available by mid April.  This guy has been in parts for over 20 years.  I cringe when I don't get him to help me..........

Not sure about additional vibrations but it makes sense it would have some...
FFT
If you mount it to the dash pad you have the dash pad supporting the Zumo only...The dash pad is held in place HOW?
It is held in place by a couple potted fasteners thru the inner fairing...

Now what happens when the potted fasteners fail or crack the plastic that is holding the fasteners in place on the back side of the dash? You beautiful painted inner fairing could possibly get damaged...Now along those same lines when the fastener fails on the zumo side and your touring down the highway and your unaware that it has failed and now the additional vibrations and weight becomes to much for the one and only fastener on the other side and it fails... :toilet: :behead2:
Got the picture yet...
FFT

I would assume, and we all know what that means, it actually goes into the dash all the way through the pad ~ I have already rigged a "lanyard" for double security ~ I'm not the most trusting of individuals ~ most things needs a backup.  The 'ol 7 Ps philosophy of which I live by.

Does it go thru the dash pad only or clean thru and into the inner fairing as well?
If it only goes into the dash pad then the senario may be appropreate...
if it goes into the inner fairing then all should be well...
Lanyard? Interesting...got a pic?
