Freedom Performance vs V&H
« on: February 17, 2010, 06:55:51 PM »

I'm stuck between Freedom Performance racing slip-ons and the Vance & Hines basic slip-ons. I'm familiar with the V&H sound, but how does it compare to the Freedom Perf ones??  Are the V&H louder or not and deeper tone?? Can anybody provide some insight for these--it is an expensive gamble, but I like the look of the Freedom Perf. mufflers.

Here is the reply I got from a PM that I sent to another forum member.

"LOUD, they all sounded like straight pipes. But then some like loud. They had them in a line and even though they all looked different they all sounded close to same to me. I have had the V&H slip ons, ovals and the classic rounds, the Freedom pipes are much louder."

And sound a whole lot better than the V&H, I don't know where they get they sounded like straight pipes, they are no way near as loud as the V&H Big Shots that i run, I was thinking about going to the Freedom's just to tone mine down, But i like them loud.

You are saying that the Freedom's are not as loud as the V&H?? I was looking at the new V&H high output slip-ons. I want louder than average, but not straight pipe loud.

It was me that heard the Freedom pipes at Street Vibes. They had several bikes lined up on the side of a big rig. I watched and listened to each one as a rep fired up each one down the line. I don't mind the loud myself as I run a Thunder header on my old Wide Glide and I rode behind a friend for years that ran 1 3/4 drags on a shovel, I guess the Freedom pipes aren't quite as loud but still louder than most seem to like. I have not heard the new V&H yet.

Thanks for both of your replies guys....it seems one thinks the V&H is louder and the other the Freedoom's...and the research continues....

I have Freedom true duals on my 10 SESG, and they are pretty darn loud...much louder than any V & H pipes I have heard, and I had V & H on my last bike.  They are a top notch product as far as quality is concerned and I would strongly recommend them.

Mjb-

Those look good quite similar to mine.  One thing I would recommend is to see if you mechanic can rotate the exhaust tip to where it follows the lines of the extended saddle bags.  I think that would look top notch.  The only way to do it on mine would be to drill and tap a hole in the opposite side of the tip in order to screw the tip onto the pipe.

The Freedoms are louder than the V&H, Thats the reason i was looking at them.

What kind of sound are you getting from the high out puts? I ordered them and the power duals for my 2010 SESG.  Loud, deap? What do you think?

I'm waiting for my engine builder to finish before I can hear them.  I can't wait!
