I would like to know if there is a hitch made that is out of sight unless the receiver is installed?

Hope you get some responses, as I am looking for a hitch for my 09 SERG.  Good luck.

Bushtec makes a hitch that is fairly well hidden. I think Chip (SBB) has posted pictures before and after, if you do a search.

Chip's was part of their prototyping. As such might have gotten a lot more attention to detail.  For a better review of production parts check out Boatman's.  Thread at the following link:

I'm considering an American Legend trailer and have talked to Bob.  Very nice and helpful so far.  The pixs they have on their web site doesn't provide a great picture of the hitch installed.  Not sure how "hidden" it is.  My  bike is an 09 SERG.  The hitch they show will work on my bike, but still looking for some actual input as to how the hitch looks when not hooked up to a trailer.

Is there a link to American Legends site? I have the N-Line trailer. My hitch load is more than a two wheel trailer. Have not seen anything completely hidden yet. I think the rear wheel clearance is the main reason for this. What about it people???? Don't know unless you ask, right?

Attached below is an email I received back from the HitchDoc.  The response is due to an inquiry I made to them about a hitch for my 09SERG.  If it is similar to the hitch they show for the standard 09 Road Glide, then it looks to be quite nice and neatly tucked away under the bike.  I did ask Stacy to verify once again that the model she quoted me is definitely for an 09 SERG.  I'll also post her response when received.

Hello!

Thank you for your recent inquiry concerning our hitches!  I am happy to inform you that we do carry a hitch for your type of bike!  It is fully chromed & it’s a receiver style where the main part of the hitch stays on and the 1 7/8” ball and tongue drop out.  It a spectacular hitch and looks awesome with the bike!  This hitch has a rattle bolt to prevent the clattering of the hitch.  This hitch mounts to the guard rail and fender strut.  The price of the receiver style hitch is $381 and the part # is 15230.

Installation instructions come with the hitch and it would take on average 1-2 hours to install.  We recommend that you have a friend help you so that you don’t scratch the bike.  The shipping and handling ranges from $20-$30 within the US by UPS ground.  Once you place your order, the shipment would take 7-10 working days if they are in stock.

The wiring harness does not come with the hitch; however, it should come with the trailer.  If the trailer is used, you may need to contact the trailer company and request for a wiring kit to go on your motorcycle.  If you wish to order call our toll free number which is 1-800-446-8222 Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm CST.

Thanks again for your inquiry!

Update on the trailer hitch..... I bought one, was told it might fit because it was developed for the 09 SERG. It will not fit the 2010 SESG. Be careful there is little known about the 2010 SESG differences. The manufacturers have not had enough time to develop a hitch for the 2010 SESG as of yet. Or else I have not been able to locate one yet. I am still searching for one. Any help anyone can offer would surely be appreciated.

P.S. Evidently the wiring is different also was told the harness I bought should plug in behind the side cover I found that there wasn't any tail light wires there. They appear to be under the seat with a different connector than what he supplied. I wonder if anyone has a SERG and could tell me where they plugged in the trailer wiring harness?

Curious as to which hitch you bought. Of it fits an 09serg I may be interested.

I had a hitch on my '02 RK (hitch Doc) and I removed it before trading it in and the service guys at the dealer told me that Harley was now sending out reps to inspect bikes for certain failures. They said that Harley was not covering some warranty claims because of trailer towing, said there have been cases where flywheels have warped and Harley would not cover under warranty. I first started towing a trailer in '01 on my softail standard and put about 7,000 towing miles on it and my RK towed every year with an average of 7,000 miles each year. My RK had a little over 73,000 total miles and I never had any engine issues other than oil spraying from the carb a little when the temp was hot out but I don't want to have warranty issues if I do.

I am going to return the hitch and wiring to the manufacturer.

I know you said you returned the hitch, but since I have an 09 SERG, I was curious as to what manufacturer it was.  Although it did not fit your bike, would you consider it a "hidden" hitch?  Thanks for any help you can shed.
