2009 CUSE vs 2010 CUSE
« on: February 20, 2010, 01:09:27 PM »

Hey guys, I just want to make sure I have my facts straight as to the differences between the 09 and the 2010..

- New Helical cut instead of straight cut 5th gear designed to get rid of whine that many owner's complained about
- New compensator design which should address any long term issues
- New adjustable lumbar support on passenger seat
- New color-matched LED wrap-around lighting on tour-pak
- New 12v power outlet in tourpak
- New LED lighting inside both saddlebags and TP
- New TP bottom liner
- New paint job (flames)

Front tire is mounted in opposite direction on the 2009 vs 2010 SEUC. The 2010 is correct.

I'm not sure but I don't believe the 2009 SEUC has the new Hammock seat design that's on the 2010 SEUC.

It has. Just not the lumbar support for the bsr.

Ride safely,

What's this??? You mean the tire tread rotation was mounted backwards?? That's an easy fix.

No, they are two differant tires. '09's came with  Dunlop D407's, which developed premature wear (cupping on outer edges). They were replaced by D408 which have the thread pattern opposite the D407. Dealer just replaced my D407, at 5000 miles, no charge.

Dunlop tried to tell harley to reverse the tread direction before the 2009 models were launched but they wouldn't listen. HD thought customers would be confused by having the front and rear treads rotating in opposite directions. The 2009's have the treads running in the same direction. The 2010's have the front & rear treads running in the opposite direction.

It's not as simple as just reversing the tire on the wheel since the directional arrow on the tire would then be rotating in the wrong direction which would only cause more confusion. The 2009s simply need to have the tire replaced (assuming they can show "cupping wear" or vibration) and the dealer should replace the tire with a new one (D408-no charge) that has the direction reversed but the arrow stills points in the correct direction.
