Looking for Fullsac x-pipe
« on: February 22, 2010, 05:54:55 PM »

Hey everyone, talked to steve and got some info and now I would like to hear his equipment on a bike, but I live in Ventura County, Ca. Anyone local enough where we could hook up sometime and I could get a listen?

thanx!

Sorry that I'm not closer. What combination did Fullsac talk to you about?

Had a great conversation with Steve, a super nice guy. But I called him to talk to him about true duals versus 2-1-2, specifically V & H. been a V & H pipe guy my whole life. I like how loud they are and how great they look. He really tried to steer me back to his product, understandably. I think ultimately, his x pipe, V&H hi output slip ons and a TTS is what I wanted. Its not a combo he does from a selling or mapping. So that brings me to wanting to hear his product. He said his product is much quieter, but I love my loud bike. And I dont like the look of a stock heat shield or slip on system. but always open to new things, i thought listening would be a way to understand. The combo He spoke of.... his x pipe, cores and a TTS with his map

sorry

Here's what I have and I'll give you my opinion of it as others may vary. Forgive me in advance because I can get a little long winded.

I purchased his X-Pipe package which consists of what you said, X-Pipe, cores and TTS. He included a Fullsac Stage I map and I got the 1.75 cores. It was easy on the pocketbook too.

The cores were easy to change after doing some light whiz wheel grinding to get the stock cores out and the X-Pipe went on like a dream. Stock heat shields fit nicely, the TTS saved the OEM flash to a computer file (.MTE) and I installed his map. I like the stock look for the shields and mufflers very much.

I have had loud before and loved it during that time but it got old to me, maybe 'cause I'm getting up there in age, but not on a bagger like the 2010 SESG. I put this combo on I wanted to get back to a rumble without the dbl's. From what I understand, Fullsac's 2.0's are not much louder than the 1.75's when you use the stock baffle packing material. You could go to a larger baffle but that would degrade your bottom end torque. You could remove the baffle material and be louder but you may also heat stain your stock cans.

What I did find was a nice low, deep tone that sounds like a Harley, his X-Pipe improved the throttle response like crazy and the map is very close and will do nicely until I do the TTS VTune when the weather warms a bit. I also like the fact that Fullsac uses a ceramic coating on his X-Pipe which acts like an insulator around the pipe. Stainless has no insulating value and while at rest or parade riding one would think you could feel the dissipated heat on your legs. After riding you can actually touch the Fullsac head pipe after a few minutes and not get burned, touch the cans and you will. I thought that to be wildly interesting since one of the main reasons I made these changes was to reduce the heat and get rid of the cat too.

Yes, his baffles are a little more quiet. More so than other manufacturers that I've tried in the past but, when I twist the wick it will wake you up pretty good. It ain't that quiet! I am also considering getting another set of his baffles for my Trike. I have Rinehart TD's on there now and they are just too loud. Now listening to the Fullsac tone... It just has a unique Harley tone that I like.

I don't know if this really will satisfy any questions you have but if I were to write an opinion about that purchase I would also say I was more than pleased with the results.

Hope you find the same...

Mr. Wizard
I've got an '09 SERG with the same set up as you.  I'm waiting on the x pipe that is on backorder.  I've got the 1.75 baffles in and like the sound.  I too was looking for a little deeper tone without the db l's.  Do you think replacing the stock headpipe with the x pipe will make the bike much louder?  I was able to install the fullsac map but would you suggest the v tune as well when the weather warms?
Thanks.

I spoke with Steve yesterday about an order. He said his right shoulder and elbow was banged up a little but is still running mach II getting his pipes out. They will be there soon, no worries.

Simply removing the OE Cat material will give you less resistance so that will give you a deeper tone. Some say louder as well. The B X-Pipe is awesome. But, I did my change all at once so I don't know how the 1.75's sound without the X-Pipe. To me, it's just what I was looking for and am more than happy with the result and the dollars.

You can do your VTunes any time. Although the air is heavier in the cold weather your ECM will adjust. No two motors (air pumps) will pump the same so even with Steve's map you should do your VTunes. He sent his map so we would have a close starting point and you need a map to flash your ECM anyway to get started. I did some of mine last weekend and it did balance/synchronize more of the VE tables. Weatherman is calling for 68* in Atlanta Sunday so I will be doing more. Don't sweat the air density. Go for it.

Also, there is no intention by me to question Steve but the Adaptive Knock Retard on his map is set to zero.  This is the "learned" spark retard that is applied in different load regions. I set mine back to stock. This helps protects you if any knock is detected during tuning.  Some people disable this while tuning, then set it back when done.  My feeling is it is good to have the protection this offers. Just my .02

There were a few maps that he forgot to reset that window while on the dyno, always check your map before you go riding.
I had the same issue when I looked at one of my tunes, he emailed me as soon as he caught it!

Yep, no worries

I'm very glad he did take the time to set up a map for us. To be honest, it wasn't noticed until after a few runs but no harm done. He and his shop still get a  :2vrolijk_21: rating from me. I also know I've been very vocal about how happy I am too... but it is what it is.  :nixweiss:

Does the stock heat shield fit over the "X" pipe?

Yes, it fits like a charm on the Fullsac X-Pipe. You can't tell the pipes have been changed unless you look real hard. It looks totally stock.

Guppy

My vid camera gave up like a skunk trying to do a porcupine. It smoked after but the job wasn't complete.

Cell phone vid won't give you the sound quality. I'll see if I can borrow my son's later this week.

OK, someone already did one

The vid is in three parts, the last one with Fullsac baffles. It's pretty close but you really don't hear the mechanical sounds like the clicking and all. I also think mine is a touch deeper, not louder, deeper. Could be vid quality.

That one is an old one from a member here.  I was hoping to hear the sound of the x-pipe/baffles combo.
I have the Fullsac 1.75's but just a modified no cat header.  Was wondering how much more crisp the throttles sounds with the Xpipe.
Thanks
