UltraCool Oil Cooler
« on: February 23, 2010, 04:04:21 PM »

I think I'm going to install one of these on the next oil change in 150 miles - http://www.ultracoolfl.com/

Spent many hours looking up feed back, seems everyone is very happy with this unit.

Any problems, issues anyone knows with this oil cooler?

Thanks!

More information about this unit I found...

The fan has a circulation capacity of approximately 150 cfm at approximately 1.7 meters of air pressure, per the us patent 6,955,150

To compare, The Toro Power Sweep leaf blower has a maximum air speed of 160 mph and 170 cfm.

Not bad... with the right attachments, could be used to blow off the bike :)

Called Robert Click at UltraCool yesterday to place and order, he asked me if I also was running with an oil temp gauge, yep. Hmmm, there seems to be a problem. He said the UltraCool has a probe which controls the fan that need to be in the port on the oil pan, so he is now trying to find a solution.

Now this really confused me so I sent off the below email, asked him not to send the cooler till they have a solution!

Robert,
I'm confused, the website and PDF download instructions, as well as all four trade reviews say nothing about installing a probe in the oil pan? I was under the impression; the fan switch was installed in the bypass valve provide with the unit. Has there been a change to the design, if so why?
Could you please email the current installation instructions?

Got the current installation instructions and sure enough, what is on the website is not what is being shipped now??

I'm still interest in this unit, upset what is advertised vs sent now is different, with no explanation.

Anyone have information about this??

Is there a way to have two probes in the oil??

Let me ask you, is he asking if you have a oil temp gauge on the dash or in the oil fill hole?

Sorry, I should have clarified this. I have a dash mounted oil temp gauge. He did suggest scraping that for an oil fill hole temp gauge, NOT an option for me and I think many who have the oil temp dash gauge.

There seems to have been a design change and now the ultracool requires a probe into the oil pan. Everything published on the UltraCool shows the fan switch built into the unit, including the patent.

I did have a dash mount gauge on my UC. Are you using the plug in the oil pan for the gauge?

That must be a new set up. Mine was done by cutting a oil line and putting a "t" to place the sencor. I put it in the plug on the oil pan instead. Just an idea, if you are not using your accessory switch on the dash you could power the fan through that. You already know what your temp is from your gauge. I would rather set up the sender unit instead. You maybe able to "T" off the plug. :nixweiss:

I have had an UltraCool Oil Cooling system on my bike since Oct 2012 have put over 5,000 miles on it works great.
I suggest if you do long distance riding or ride south of I-40 you have one on your bike.
It really works. http://ultracoolfl.com
