110 UPGRADES FINISHED
« on: February 23, 2010, 04:34:46 PM »

My 07' Dyna 110 upgrades are finished and wanted to share the results. I figured while it was in this winter for the head gasket recall, upgrade etc. I would have cams, headwork and Diamond cutting done on the heads as well as a pipe change recommended by the builder. I did have VH Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes and I changed those out to D&D Fat Cats 2 into 1 Big Bore with Quiet Baffle. The cam choice was Woods TW9B-6 with Zippers adjustable push rods,Torrington Bearing, heads decked and ported by Steve at Chesapeake Harley in Darlington MD. I decided to stay with the stock 46mm throttle body from advice by Steve to maintain more low end torque. Crank runout was checked and was at .003 so not tearing the bottom end apart. I'll keep my fingers crossed no problems will arise there. I'm really pleased with the dyno results 122HP and 125TQ.and will try to post along with pics of the bike with the new exhaust and Diamond Cut Heads. Now we need some nicer weather here in Maryland so I can ride ASAP. Thanks for all the good advice from everyone on this site. Ride ON  :coolblue:   Dave

The peak numbers look great but I have to say I personally wouldn't be thrilled about losing both HP and Tq below 3000rpm vs the pre-build engine. It'll be interested to hear back how you like the ride with all of the performance improvement being above 3500 rpms. Let us know as soon as you get some good riding weather and some miles in the saddle.

For comparison here's my dyno which doesn't have your peak numbers but I have more than 100ft/lbs from 2700 to 5700 which makes the ride a blast regardless of the gear I'm in. Although just like you, I'll be doing some additional tuning this Spring to see if these numbers can be improved.

Rolling on with a Dyna as opposed to a full dresser does not require the torque that a full dresser needs.

Looks good dhudson, and I bet it's a blast to ride.

DHUDSON,
That's a nice build.
You didn't give up squat down low,in fact if you used a different exhaust, your lower numbers may be slightly better.Prolly never noticable. :o
It'll still wax the daylights out of all the lowend/torque "bashers"... :huepfenlol2:

Believe me, I get the benefits of a "roll-on" performance curve. His curve looks like my Fatboy's. I was just surprised that the build would have resulted in less hp and tq below 3000 then he started with. Easily fixed with a FatCat.

Looks good. I congraulate you for listening to the builder and running what he recomended and finding a HD dealer that obviously knows performance. Also kudos for not dabbling. If you spend the money for labor and parts why not give the motor balls with a decent cam choice that let's it breath on top. Not any give ups down low.
I get a lot of calls from both guys that "want it all" and the ones that thought they "bought it all" that are disappointed when they really do drop their low end torque into the dumpster, you didn't. The others want to keep the stock cam and want more on top by porting??????
Good choices.

Maybe it could benefit from the standard or performance baffle?

True I guess.
Mine also has the quiet baffle and I feel there is some ponies hidden in there.
But it's nice to not have the loudest bike and to be able to hear the radio at 70 mph.
Damn, I think that means I'm getting old.
