This may have aleady made it on here. If not, it's a GREAT safety reminder to look out for our four legged friends -- ESPECIALLY WHILE RIDING.

Looks like this moose went through the front windshield and out the back one ? Happens all the time with these critters. That's why Moose are so dangerous if you hit em. If you hit a deer, the grill takes most of impact.Moose are taller than the average hood so they go through the windshield and kill you.  Route 25 which goes from Maine into NH on the way to Laconia, when you get to the NH side they have the number of people killed from Moose accidents posted beside a warning sign to look out for em. Anyone who travels a lot in moose and deer country can tell you that you need install the whistle devices that stick to your front fender to ward off these suckers.

my condolences to anyone who may have been injured or their family if they died in this picture

Until a few years ago I didn't realize just HOW BIG those things really were.  Wild Kingdom on TV don't do 'em justice.  Went to the Maine state rally and while there took one nice long day and just went north.  All small roads up there.  Little stores that are combinations gas/grocery/post and about anything else.  And warning signs for moose commonly on the road.  I'm in one of these little stores having a snack and developing a new found love for something called pumpkin cookies.  Shooting the breeze with the proprietress and trying to scam the cookie recipe.  Half an hour or so later walk out of the store and there's the moose hovering over the Road King.  I'm really thinking he had amorous intent.  Just had that "look" in his eye.  This was one large economy sized animal.  Much taller than I expected.  The lady in the store said that he was a "big one."  He was also apparently a local.  She had a name for him (Joe).  But for a few minutes I was just convinced that Joe was going to make that Road King his b*tch.  Tell you one more thing, I wasn't saying a word to him about it!

spent 44 years in maine  friendly piece of advice about moose,  unless you're gonna make em the guest of honor at a BBQ, leave em alone  they can be as nasty as they are big - - - - come to think of it isn't that the way with most of us big critters ?

Big, and mean if you piss them off, even by accident. I've only seen 4 in all the many miles i've rode in NH, ME,VT. I guess that's a good thing. And that's why Nobody is going to tell me that LOUD PIPES DONT SAVE LIVES !!!! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] wakes them up ang gets them moving into the trees.

Something else to consider: The eyes of moose "DO NOT" reflect light (glow), like bear, deer, wolves, fox and come to think of it I can't think of another animal that has eyes that don't light up when lights hit there eyes.
