Introduction: New CVO Member from Sacramento
« on: March 01, 2010, 06:20:17 PM »

Hi everybody--I have had my CVO about 3 months but have only just learned of this forum.  What a delight!  It will take me a while to learn how to use all the emoticons and everything else.

About me:  63, lawyer in private practice, easing into retirement and plan to be fully retired in 2011.  Am now a weekend rider but hope to get into longer trips as i get more time.  Married, and an empty nester.

Interests:  An ol Deadhead (as in Grateful Dead for you youngins) from way back.  Was a radio d.j. & had a show called "Uncle John's Jam"--no short pieces allowed.  But to me anything that takes a theme and develops it is a jam--definitely including classical music and opera!  Go figure.  Travel (non m/c) a fair amount.

Riding:  I rode a Honda 360 way back when in college...then got out of riding but always kept my m/c endorsement on my DL.  Got actively involved again when got an 05 Heritage Softail in 04.  Mainly a weekend rider.  Ride a lot w my local (Sac) HOG group but also a fair amount solo.  Given my age, decided to retire in style w a top of the line bike, as it will probably be my last bike.  Ordered a CVO Ultra Classic in red (really orange)/slate.  Ordered in July, got it in Dec & w travel & the bad weather, hadven't ridden it that much yet.  But spring is here now!!!

I look forward to participating w everyone on this forum.

Welcome to the board John....glad to have you join us.  We'll not hold it against you because you're an attorney, on the verge of retiring......but a damn hippy deadhead! :huepfenlol2:  I'm bettin your hair isn't long anymore, huh :)

Thanks to Mark (Ride Like A Pro West Coast) for plugging John into us. :2vrolijk_21:

Yeah, i really want to thank Mark Paz for turning me on to this forum.  He has the franchise for "Ride Like  A Pro-- West Coast."  I took his course yesterday and it was really great.  I highly recommend it.  He is an excellent instructor and he also told me about this forum and even contacted members to ask them to send info to me.  Thanks, Mark.  (Now, it'll just take me another lifetime to learn to ride anywhere near like he does.)

As for being a hippie, well let's put it this way.  Thank goodness for the cool XM stereo that comes w the CVO.  It has over a hundred channels but Channel 57, The Dead, is all i need!!!  And that music will keep me goin miles and miles and miles!

Welcome,
You have come upon a great bunch of people on this web site. Hope to meet you on one of the runs.   When I came on my first CVO run, I kept the thought in the back of my mind that if I didn't like these people, I would just leave.

Hasn't happened yet :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

John,

I'm glad you made it! Now you need to start posting pictures of you and your bike. That way folks will recognize you at the get togethers.

Welcome.

I was going to warn him about you and your camera, but I didn't want to frighten him off before he got to know us.
