paint code need for 2009 SERG - stardust silver
« on: March 02, 2010, 05:07:58 PM »

I'm sure this has been hashed before however I've searched and been unable to find it.  I already had a tourpak that I want matched to my 2009 SERG.  I'm looking at a single color, the stardust silver and need the paint code.

If you could, I'd appreciate the code.

thanks, Mac...

Geez, 31 views and no replies.  I know others have gone through this before however they must have been sworn to secrecy by HD.  thanks and appreciate the help.... guess i'll drive 200 miles with a side panel to get it matched............

Lack of reply generally means lack of a known answer.  It couldn't be that Harley just doesn't give out the paint codes.  It's got to be that no one likes you.

Typical answer and reply.  I don't really care whether anyone here likes me or not as i have all the friends I need.  I joined this board (like many have) to get and provide help to others with simular interest.  My point is that I am not forging new ground here and if you do a search you will find 9 pages regarding tour-paks; there are at least half a dozen people on this board with color matched tour-paks in the stardust silver, not to mention all the color matched lowers threads.  Just the number of views on my post shows that there is some interest and since I'm a big fan of not re-inventing the wheel I thought I would reach out to this very informed board to find the answer, not a smartass reply.

So, if in the future you see one of my post and you can not add value (that means supply an answer or point me in the direction of an answer) please move on to another thread where someone might not mind you wasting their time.

P.S. I understand that HD does not share the paint codes - that would have been easy and I would not have posted the question here!

Darkside to English translation might have been:

"Hey guys, I see 31 of you took the time to look.  Appreciate your consideration.  If I get the codes I'll share them for anyone else."

Instead he got a little bitchy because no one powdered his bottom.

Then he got a lot bitchy:

Value, being a relative thing, is appreciated differently from viewer to viewer.  That being so I shall add value via imagery:

calm down darkside...Twolanerider was just pulling your chain.  His real answer was the first sentence.  Most people have done exactly what you said you were going to have to do, take a side panel to your painter and have them match it.  Sometimes the factory codes don't match up perfectly, especially in the CVOs because of the painting process involved and you'll actually get a better match by your painter doing trial and error.  You probably didn't get any takers, because they don't know what the blend was that their painters used.   They just gave them the part and said match it.

That trailer following my 09 SEUC is a perfect example of what Red Devil just said.
It matches perfect and all I did was give my painter the side panel off the bike and said match it.
But I did like Don's answers.

reddevil and sbb,  thanks for the response and i understand.  I will get the paint codes once my painter matches the paint so if in the future I need to match something else i won't have to go through this.  pulling my chain or not, I really thought I was polite in asking twolane not to waste my time and i'm sure I'm not the only one that really dislikes smartass remarks when they are trying to find out something.

p.s. i'll post the codes once i get them so others will have an answer, not bs!

OK everyone here is what you do. Call 1-800-3-DUPONT (1-800-338-7668). You will receive an automated system, follow the prompts. You want Color information. Quality will be Dupont. You will then be connected to our color lab. Tell them you are looking for a Harley Davidson color, give them your color name and code if you have it. They will ask you what quality you are looking for, you will want "Chroma Premier". If you live in a state that is mandated to use waterborne, you will want "Cromax Pro". If they have it available, Give them a fax number or email address and they will send you the formula within minutes. You can then get your local Dupont Automotive paint store to mix it for you. We have alot of the colors and are adding more all the time. Keep in mind that MOCO doesnt usually release the colors for about a year after they come out. If you have a 2010 and the color carried over from 09 you should be ok. Hope this helps everyone looking for colors.  :2vrolijk_21:

Maybe this might help.

darkside, even with the code from HD you are still taking a chance of not being 100% happy due to what RedDevil has already shared. I have painted cars in a previous life, own a 09 Silver SERG and the ONLY way I would attempt a paint match is by a local guy working through the process. I guess what I'm trying to say is there is more to this than a paint code. Good luck!!

WOW, I got a flaming post email!  I hope I didn't hurt twolanes feelings or scare him too much; i'm sure he's not so smart mouth f2f.

As far as i'm concerned this post is closed.  I was hoping to get some constructive assistance and appoligize that someone with nothing better to do had to read my post and evidently lacking the knowledge or intellect had to add his 2 cents which was completely over-rated.

thank you for all the positive responses and when i get the paint codes I'll post them.
