I rather us all give ten bucks and skip the the business ads. The 2nd best thing about this site is no ads - pop-ups and other BS.

as long as the site can support itself there no need to screw up a good thing with corporate sponsorship

I agree that keeping the site free of advertiser influence is a good thing. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Maybe if the site needs funds to keep operating maybe a system where the site has a membership store would help? It would sell CVO related products like hats, shirts, bumper stickers etc.
Also maybe a system where you could join the site for free but if you wanted to be a supporting member for X amount each year you would get a label or emblem next to you avitar stating you are a supporting member for that year, access to supporting members only sections on the site and maybe a patch or something simular? all good ideas VA, but we cannot have an official site store, as soon as we do that HD can say the site is making money on its name.  having donation drive this year seemed to work well. and while i can see the merits of identifiy those that have donated in a way it also singles out those that havent. and i dont want anyone to feel like they must give.

Couldn't agree more, as it's very difficult to have an open and honest discussion of a product or service that is "writing the check".  The "no BS" approach to reviewing products, HD included, is what, in my opinion sets this site apart.  Guess a good example would be the bike magazines.  Every time you see a full color page length ad, you can bet it will be followed by a glowing "review".  Doesn't work for me.  I think if a guy or gal can afford a 35k bike, another 5-10K in mods and enjoys this site that a little "help" now and then should roll in without even asking.

Porthole,  This comment made me really laugh.  ;D ;D ;D ;D There tends to be a great deal of BS on this site.  Good and sometimes hilareously funny BS, but BS just the same.
I finally got around to clicking on the donate button today, and like what most of you already knew, found that you can make your donation with your debit card or credit card as well as paypal.  Since I seem to be unable to leave the house with a check -for like two weeks now - and don't know how to use paypal, this worked well for me.  Thanks to whomever made that nice addition.  And thanks so much Naitram for giving us this great site.  It is wonderful what you have provided for us, it is easily well worth a ten dollar donation.  I feel bad that you have been incurring the expense along with the burden of this site for so many years uncompensated.  What a wonderful opportunity to contribute, albeit a small way.
