09 SE110 performance upgrade
« on: March 05, 2010, 04:12:40 PM »

Hi, new to the forum and looking for information on anyone whose added cams and high flow head to the 110 and what the results were.  I've been quoted from the dealership $4631 Canadian for parts and labour. Parts: TW-7H WOODS 2006 & LATER DYNA AND ALL 2007 & LATER CHAIN DRIVE CAM .575 LIFT/ TAPPET LIFTER (PKG OF 4)/ GASKET KIT, TOP END/ QUICK INSTALL PUSHROD KIT,TC88/ GASKET KIT, CAM SERVICE/ 84-04 .600 V/SPRINGS W/ TITANIUM COLLAR/ Port & Polish heads & 15.2 hrs labour.  Dyno is around 100hp and 114tq.  I already have Vance & Hines 2 into 2 big radius and a Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner.  Are there any other combinations that work?

100/114 from a built 110"?? that sucks... my friend is getting 94/108 from just removed cat, A/C, big oval mufflers and tune on his '09 SEUC...
i'm guessing u have an SE fat bob? that exhaust may look and sound good, but its not a great performer... a mild cam, like an SE204, or HQ500 with a good tune should get u 100/115 or thereabouts...

Thanks for the reply.  I called a dealer in Montana and i'm looking a the se110 upgrade kit #27548-10 in the SE catalogue.  It has new 10.5:1 pistons and the se259e cams.  He doesn't have any dyno numbers but said he'd probably get close to 110tq with a dyno tune. I don't need all the parts in the kit but it'll sure be alot cheaper than what I've been qouted here.

Has anyone used/heard info on the se259e cams?

Early reports are not great but these were on 103" motors. Do you want to experiment? Does this dealer know how to leverage the SEST to give a good tune which will make or break this combination of parts that is not any canned map download? When dealers start creating SE hybrids they have to be able to support that with good tuning ability and equipment.
110 TQ is that good? If it comes in at 2,200 rpm maybe. Depends on the shape of the curve. The stock motor with a good tune and pipe is not too shabby in the low to mid range torque area.

Your heads are "high flow" and if hp and higher rpm torque are the goal that is a set of pistons, minor headwork and a valve change (blueprinting better guides with proper fit and fixing the 93% intake throat plus a little work on the exhaust side), and a cam away. Your FBW throttle body becomes a constraint after about the 115hp level. HPInc now has a solution for that.

I know how close Montana Dealers are to Calgary, once you know what parts you want get a price from the HD Dealer in Montana, probably Great Falls. Once you have your part numbers you need ,then get a hold of Jenni Saptya at Tri City HD. Email jsaptya@aol.com or phone her at 513-874-4343. She gives 20% off and has shipped to Canada many times. If her price is better that is the way to go.

$4631 is alot of money for the original build you outlined. In general the Harley Dealers do a "cookie cutter" type of build using mostly all SE parts that probably won't produce the numbers you could attain using one of the independent builders that are available on this site for alot less money.

Who are some of the "independant builders" on the site and where do I find them?

Try These:

www.gmrperformance.com
www.Head-Quarters.com
www.hillsidecycle.com
www.tmanperformance.com

Head-Quarters has a Canadian Branch:

Head Quarters
3006 St. Clair Parkway
Sombra, ON,   N0P 2H0

There are many more, but I listed four quality shops.

You have many many options, for what you are workring towards. A basic kit will produce more power than what you have listed.   You do not have to go to a big cam or even a high dollar brand stick.  Dont make it complicated.

In reply to your post: I think???? my bike is making 80hp and 90tq at the wheels and that may be generous...

What would a basic kit consist of?  I'm looking to make 105-110 hp and 120-125 tq without huge modifications.

I know that my location has an effect on these numbers as I'm approx 2200 ft above sea level.

Any information you can provide is appreciated.

Have done several now, with a Wood 9B, the 110" heads re-worked*, 55mm/58mm manifold, and D&D Fatcat/performance baffle. 125/125 plus, VERY common. Mucho fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :apple:

They hit 110 torque stock (after proper tune and pipe upgrades) and have a pretty wide torque band at that, above 100.

So IME the TW7 is grey area really. Have seen minor HP and TQ improvements with headwork but how much of that can be attributed to added compression by milling?

For torque I like the TW5-6, next jump to the TW8-6 and 10.5 pistons for a little higher rpm fun with nearly no loss down low. Remember these heads breath and just need the traffic director (cam) to say "Open Longer, Open Wider"
