Slip-ons for '06 CUSE
« on: January 23, 2006, 09:21:33 PM »

I am looking for a set of slip-ons for my Haze that I should get in March.  I currently have the V&H Basics on my '04 Road King Classic and my wife thinks they are too loud so will need something a little quieter.  Maybe the Ovals from V&H?  I think the Harley Touring pipes would be too quiet.

When I first installed the V&H Basics on my RKC I didn't do a reflash or air kit right away and it was just fine.  Can I do the same with the SE 103"?  Eventually I will add the air kit and the Race Tuner.

Right now I am looking for a good looking muffler that will make the bike sound like a Harley but not be too loud.  Any suggestions would be welcome.  Thanks.

I've got the V&H ovals on mine and they don't seem all that loud to me and they look great. All I've done is put the mufflers on mine, no problems to date. I plan to put tru duals and the SERT before Daytona.  [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

I did the V&H Ovals, SE air box and re-flash on my Haze and love the sound. Not too loud but definitely not stock. Runs great too. Most important - the wife loves the sound to. You know what that translates into - you guessed it, more chrome.

Hey Dakotazeb, some of the Sampson slip-ons sound pretty good and some are quieter than others.  You just gotta hear em to know.  :-/ spyder

Anybody have any experience with Rush mufflers?  I like the fact that they have 4 different baffles so you can select the amount of sound that's right for you.  1.75", 2.00", 2.25" and 2.50".

Don't do Thunderheaders...... (WAY too loud)  I have Hooker T duals on mine and the are load enough to know your riding a real bike,  but quiet enough to hear the stereo (plus they can be adjusted.....FOR TORQUE BABY.....).  My bike runs like a raped ape (with some other stuff,  but the hookers are the way to go).  If your looking to impress the boyz at the local Dyno shop,  put Reinarts on it,  they make BIG  HP numbers,  but take too much time gettin there...IMHO.

Yes, the thunderheaders are quite a bit louder than most, I have them on my FLSTFSE2 and they provide great performance and you know when I'm in the area.  I've been riding with a CUSE rider who has Rineharts which sound very good and look good on his bike, the black tips nake them look right for the bike.

 DakotaZeb,

I'm currently running Vance & Hines #16719 slip-ons. They are nice looking and have a pretty mellow sound compared to a lot of other options out there. Their performance is above average for slip-ons....

Speaking of chrome addictions and starters.  Got the new Kuryakyn catalog in the mail Saturday.  Several new tricks in it.  One that caught my eye though was a new little chrome cover that goes up on top of the starter assy to hide the cable attaching point and some length of the cable.  It's cheap too ($20.00).  Kuryakyn part # 1315.
