I found a rock today......
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:08:53 AM »

Back before WW2, my mum (1917 - 1977) and dad (1912 - 1993) used to love touring on my dad's bike.  One picture of each of them was taken in a location that I thought looked nice, but that I'd never find it, sitting on a rock, with a mountain in the background.  Today, I finally found the rock...... felt good to sit there, and have my photo taken, around 75 years after the original photos.

How cool is that?  Congratulations! I like the fact that you took a black & white photo as well.  Job well done!!!

And what a coincidence with my mum (1917 - 1977)  Good thoughts all around. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Grizzly!  I still have the old Kodak bellows camera that must have taken the original photos.  Plan is, if I can get a film for it, to go back in summer, and trim back some of the vegetation that's grown on the rock (while nobody is looking - it's a popular area in a National Park!) and take another, as close as possible to the real thing.

thats really cool, where is the rock?  Somewhere up in Scotland?

i have been spending all my spare time since the beginning of the year tracing my ancestors and family, i now have over 970people listed so far and all look to be able to be traced to one couple living back at the early part of 1600`s

Yes, in the Trossachs, at Loch Katrine.

You're doing well with your family tree to get back that far - I've been doing mine for 30 years, but can't get further back than the mid 1700s.  4717 people in mine!
