One thing for sure,  saddles are like motor oil and windshields, each to his own with a plethora of opinions.   I've had a bunch of different seats and they all hurt me after back to back 500+ mile'ers.

Here is $.02 more:  The stock SERG seat is vinyl not leather and that goes for the fake Buffalo insert too.  I found it very hot in the summer and slippery all the time so that I was constantly adjusting myself in the saddle.  Did not get complaints from BSRs, thought.  Here's what I wound up with, a Corbin Gambler. See reply #149 to 153 or so.  The Corbin is far more comfortable, cooler and locks on.

I like a firmer and lower seat. I had this same type Rally Runner on a street glide. Marshmallow seats are OK for geezers....oops I forgot I'm a geezer! :drink:

If you look at the pictures in the link above ("Corbin Gambler"), you'll see the chrome key slot / hole.  The locking mechanism attaches to the rear seat screw hole.  You install the lock catch into the hole in the fender where the seat screw used to go.  Corbin seats are thus longer and IMHO, look better.  The Corbin web site explains it better.

Thanks for all the input.

The only Corbin I would consider for a touring seat would be the dual tour. Problem is I don't care for the looks, it's more expensive, and Corbin's customer service sucks.

I decided I will be getting the 2 pc Mustang touring seat with rider backrest, and the larger (13" I think) recessed pillion seat. I'll probably take it with me when we fly (as checked luggage), so it won't cost me anything to ship it up to where the bike is.

I believe the stock SERG sissy bar won't work with the thicker pillion pad, so I'll also have to bring along an HD backrest and 4 point docking hardware kit, which btw, I think I will order both in black.

If anyone else is in the market for a Mustang seat, lewiscustomcycles.com is a great place to deal with- awesome customer service with a good price.

I have the same set up on my scoot. I had a 1 1/2" cut off the foam, right where your butt backs into. And I also asked the uhpolstry shop to shave off 3/4" off each side of the seat where your thighs contact the seat. Turned out good for me...........................Fuzz

Funny, whenever I send him an email with a question, we end up chatting quite a bit by email. It seems that the economy is really hurting him at the moment, I'd love to try to send him some business somehow, 'cuz he does seem like a real good guy, and has great prices and service. I stated the obvious to him about becoming a site sponsor here, and at hdforums, but it seems the cost of doing this is prohibitive to him right now. Actually, I was thinking it wasn't allowed to advertise for dealers, but I noticed the "good vendors" section of the forum....would be appropriate to put in a good word for him there, no?

I also supported him with his "1000 biker idea" end of 2008 as his reaction of the burning down of his "old" shop , then he built a new one ......

Take that stock seat and use it as a float for when you go fishing and even then it probably would sink Harley should be ashamed for steeling from us the grate ride this bike can give you right out of the crate. I road mine 400 miles the 1st trip I took and was worried if I could get back home from hurting so bad. Had a Mustang on my Heritage and loved it. I’m waiting on my new seat to come in get you a mustang seat and save the cost of shipping that so call seat back home. Ride safe and free on your way back home

I have had both the Mustang and the Corbin. I had good luck with the Mustang for about a year and a half then it broke down and I couldn't ride 50 mi. Went to a Corbin and never went back
