SEUC 110 SERT not tuneable
« on: March 09, 2010, 07:07:49 PM »

Asking for a little advice from the more knowledgeable.  2010 SEUC. Dealer installed Stage 1 a/c, Rinehart true duals, and tuned it with a SERT. Bought bike in winter so I couldnt test ride it when delivered. Finally got some good weather and I got a chance to put some miles on it. Two things I noticed. Cold start the motor goes to 1800 rpm, normal, but then starts surging from 1800 down to 1200 and back up. Once it gets warm that gos away, idles normal. At 2000 rpm to 2400 rpm in 5th or 6th gear, the motor sneezes, or coughs, not a backfire through the exhaust, but through the throttle body, thats at a constant rpm. If above 2400 rpm the engine runs fine. Called the dealer, they said ride it, a little more, only had 100 miles on it. Rode it for 150 miles more and its still doing the same thing. Called the dealer again. Said that it sounds like a problem with the dyno tune. Got to the dealer today, they checked it out. I was told they cannot tune below 15% throttle, and thats right at the rpm that I am having the problem. Their suggestion was to put a Power Commander on it because they can tune it at the rpm range I am having the issue. I'm not the only one running a 2010 with Rinehart true duals, on a 110, I did alot of reading before I bought this bike, so is anyone else having a problem with getting a good tune with a SERT. Now I am begining to question my dealer, they are paying for the conversion. I havent read about anyone else having this problem. Love the bike just want to get it straight.

The dealer said "cannot tune......" that pretty much describes their ability.
Find a tuner that get's it, you will like the bike I assure you.

Can someone answer this question please? Can you tune a 2010 DBW with lambda scale using a...

SERT?

No
Only with a SEST, the new version.
I assume the dealer used a SEST not a SERT

Thanks for the responses, I understand most think its the dealer, not the SERT, but is it accurate that the Sert cannot be adjusted below 15% throttle, and will the dealer changing the tuner to a Power Commander be able to tune out the flat spot. My thought was if the SERT can be tuned, the dealer doesnt have the experience to do it, how can they tune a Power Commander?

This will enable a capable tuner to get this bike tuned. They will need the additional knowledge of tuning the Lambda system and this software can get it done in the right hands

Two guys there are very knowledgeable techs, Hv and Rigidthumper, I think they are both in your neck of the woods and work at HD dealers

Can you post a copy of your SEST map here? If your tuner was able to calibrate your VE tables then there may be something else in the map creating your issues. Dollar to Doughnuts that one of the gearheads here can find it.

Also, post your dyno sheet here with it. I saw it on the other thread and the torque curve looks strange to me. Your dropping torque pretty quickly. It may help someone figure out what is going on.

Yes, your bike can be tuned through the entire range with SEST.  Your dealer does not know what they are doing or can not handle the differences with the 2010 models.  You have already purchased the SEST do not sink more money into a Powercommander.  Find someone that can tune the SEST properly.  The current version of SEST for the 2010 models is part number 32111-10.  The 2010 models still have VE tables for both front and rear, what has changed is there is no longer tuning with RPM/TPS, it is now tuning with RPM/MAP.  Tuning a 2010 bagger is a little different now.   The key point is finding a tuner that can tune the SEST.
