need help on purchase
« on: March 12, 2010, 08:29:48 PM »

i am  just about to buy the 2008 cvo springer, i was told when the guy took the bike in to repair the compression release warranty issue that the mechanic at h.d suggested that the guy put in higher compression pistons, a 260 cams and new jugs. does this sound like sound advice? any problems with driveability or getting a extended warranty. thanx in advance for your input.frank

The wrranty for sure wold be voided regarding any engine work and probabl the driveline.

As far as nneding the performance enhancements, you shouldn't need them for a springer CVO.  However, if warranty isn't a concern, then can you ever have to much power?

regarding rideability, I have no clue where the power band is for the proposed setup.  But mostly likely at the upper RPM (above 3500) which is where few of us ride.

Why not just ride your new bike for a while? You may be pleasantly surprised with the power and torque it already has!
My experience wih my '08 has been truly wonderful. All I have done performance wise is remove the fiberglass wrap from the stock baffles to deepen the exhaust tone. I ride in the 2500 to 300 rpm range most of the time and have very good throttle response and acceleration in all gears, including 6th, which I hardly ever use. Remember this is a relatively light-weight bike for the motor.
Good Luck, Welcome and Enjoy the Ride!

I rode a 2007 Softail custom, whic had plenty of power.  Would thinka CVO would even be better, lot's better>

Ride it for a while and see what you think.

I have 10.5.1 pistons, 260 cams, 2into 1 super trap,PC3 and breather and could not be happier. The dealer has no problems with warranty issues
