Clearview windshield--need help
« on: March 13, 2010, 09:06:06 PM »

I took my Clearview windshield off my Road Glide in Dec and didn't pay enough attention.  There is a bushing shaped like a "top hat". My question is: how is this thing installed?  Does the "rim of the top hat" go under the windshield next to the rubber on the fairing mount, or does the "rim of the top hat" go outside of the windshield under the washer for the screw?  When I took it off, I must have thought it was intuitive as to how it when back on, but now it's not. Need some help.

That`s the way it should be when i remember correct, to fix the screw inside the windshield-hole.

The wellnut goes against the fairing  then the windshield molding then the windshield and finnally the washer and screw.   Doc

That's great. One vote for each way. Any more ideas?

FWIW -

Harley's instructions for THEIR windscreen shows the well nut going through a washer next to the fairing. The screw then goes through a washer, through the shield and into the well nut. I've no idea if the CV uses the same. A PDF link to their instructions can be found here. Good luck.

The "Top Hat" goes on the outside of the shield. small end goes to the shield with the head of the screw to the larger diameter side There is a thin washer over the stock gasket and behind the shield also.  :drink:
