Has anyone tried this type of product for your seat?
« on: March 14, 2010, 10:31:37 AM »

I was at my Steelerships open house on Saterday and one of the local vendors is pushing a product called "Pro Pad"  It is a gel pad that they insert under the origional leather of your seat to give you a more comfortable ride with less "Numb Bum" while keeping the origional look of your bike is what they claim.  I was wondering if anyone has acctually inserted one of these gel pads under thier stock seats and if so what they thought of the product.  Any feedback would be nice, be it good, bad, or otherwise.

I have the Pro Pad SuprCruzr Real Sheepskin #6404 http://www.thepropad.com/ that goes on top of the seat.  I like the feel of it, but not for all the time.  I was glad I got the one that you can take on and off.  If you alternate back and forth at each gas stop, it's like you just started riding for the day all over again.  Because of the way the base of it grips the seat, you don't even have to strap it on, even though it does come with straps you can attach to it.  Unfortunately, it makes my bike a bit too tall for me when I use it, so it's great when I'm on the highway, but when I come to a stop, I'm on my tippy toes.  If anyone wants to give one a shot, I'll part with mine for half price - $75, since I've stopped using it.  The bike is too heavy for me to hold up on just my toes.

I don't know anything about the "pro pad gel" but we had a gel seat on one of the bikes a while back. If you leave the bike angled toward the sun on a warm day you will have one HOT seat. You will be leaving a jacket over or covering it on ALL sunny days. I like the sheepskin idea though.

pro-pad was an improvement on my stock 07 FLHRSE3 seat. ultimately i ended up with a C&C seat and never looked back. get a aftermarket and be done. :2vrolijk_21:

a good variety is out there to say the least.

good luck

my pro-pad was installed at there booth in daytona.

The sheepskin takes care of that problem.  The sheepskin is supposed to let some air flow under your butt and it actually seems to work.  Actually, I don't think I ever left mine sitting on the seat though.  Since I never strapped it down, I always tossed it in the tourpack if I was walking away from the bike.
