HDDOCFL, Thanks for the posts. I'm going to take it down to my dealer. Lets see what they do.

Has anyone had an opportunity to put a tape on both to verify if there is a difference in length  :confused5:

Thanks,

With my current seat I also have a problem with the seat rubbing on the left saddlebag, I hope this new one takes care of it, as I have already shimmed out the bag a 1/8" and it still rubs.   Doc

Seat Bumper Recall was done on my 2009 FLTRSE3 and the Seat front gap looks just like the picture on the Recall Notification Sheet posted here.

So I qualify for the NEW seat ?

:orange:  I don't see why we have to go thru all the pre check with the bumpers if the seat is bad then just replace the seat with the -09A seat and end of story.
Sounds to me like HD is hoping again to save their cost by these little bumeprs and not giving us a new seat.  when i get back to texas this friday I am going to tell my stealer to just replace the seat no bumpers wanted.   I brought this to their attention in the first month of purchase in june of 09.  Why should I have to add some little engineers temp fix that should be the full cost of 595.00 for the seat.  We paid 32k for these bikes!  Makes no sense to me!  I will let you all know what they do and say!  :orange:

Considering that they played the same cheap chit games on really important items like the engine back in '07/'08, and the obviously defective tires in '08/'09, why would you think they wouldn't play games on a seat?  They've proven time and time again that customer satisfaction is not part of the equation in these sorts of things, at least until the complaints, lawsuits, and general bad press force them to reconsider.  Don't forget, they started out denying there was a problem, then they said they were investigating it, then they finally said they were working on a fix.  Exactly the same BS as with the engines and tires. Stick to your guns and force them to replace the seat!  Then hang it on the garage wall and buy a good aftermarket seat, problem solved.

My longer replacement seat is working fine, no more large gap between tank console and seat is tight!

The dealer installed the new replacement seat for me. Just put 1100 miles on in the last 3 days so have about 1300 miles on it. The seat is doing fine with about a 1/2 gap when sitting, and 1/8 when off.

Jim at Metal Dragon inspected/tested the longer replacement as well as the shorter original and feels the problem has been corrected. Jim did a one-armed fist stand on the seat and it seemed solid. When I took the seat off for photos it required a firmer adjustment to get the female slot to slide over the male bracket to reinstall.

NOTE: The part number for longer replacement and shorter original seat are the same. (Why? I don't know!) Due to this you may run the risk of a dealer having the shorter original in dealer's inventory. My longer replacement was ordered, arrived in about three days and took 10 mins to install.

The dealership (Faultline Harley Davidson) installed bumpers under the seat today as the fix per the current bulletin issued last week.  This fix actually pushes the seat up on the console about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. There is literally no sag at all now when I sit.  This was after a new seat a few weeks ago.

Surprise to me as I had the bike in to get new rubber seals for the fairing.

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

:orange:  Well went to the stealer today and they had the bumpers in that were ordered last week.  Installed them and the seat has no gap.  Stealer said all everyone wants is a new seat!  I said well yeah! What do you expect after paying 32k for these bikes and get a gap on the seat.  Well went for a ride on it and when sitting on it the gap is no longer there, but can see the crooked build of the set not!  It's going on the wall and I buying a C&C custom for this bike! I'm done with the stealers! :orange:
