I must have missed something, Thought this post was about comparing SERK and SESG's Not Ultra's

the Ultra is mainly a Streetglide with tourpack and lowers.

As you may have noticed many Streetglides get their tourpacks and lowers very soon - as soon as many Ultras loose theirs

Might ask DRTYK9. Rich rode a 07 SERK better than anyone I've ever seen. He has a SESG now. I would seek his input.

Thanks Jeff.  I have 4,000 miles on my SESG and I have pushed it hard in corners.  Compared to the Road King, the Road King is a much better handling bike in hard turns.  The bike chosen by anyone should be dependent on your riding style and what you like.  When riding normal through soft sweeping turns and straights I prefer the SESG because of the radio.  At high speed and hell riding through twisty roads the Road King will always handle better. 

The additional weight on the front end of the SESG compared to the '07 SERK makes a huge difference but only is noticed when pushing the bike hard in turns.  If you don’t ride hard in turns the extra weight should not be an issue.

Additional note:

I had an '07 SERK and I put 39k miles on it.  Loved the way it ran and the way it handled (aside from the leaks and tire issues).  I plan to buy another Road King in the future.

For me personally would never trade my king for a sg I'm to young and ride without windshield still on the long hauls just clip her on and yes the road king is twice as nimble as for the other fellow comparing a heritage to sg no comparison it's a softail not a swing arm a king has a swing arm as does the sg when I turn older and a little more brittle I might consider a sg although I don't now if that will be any time soon

Gents:

Thinking about moveing from 2007 Black Ice SERK, which I love, to 2009 or 2010 two tone "regular" Street Glide.  Has anyone made a similary move ?     Just wanted to ask anybody's two cents on the matter.   

Pros, cons sort of thing.

Any input would be appreciated.

I traded my 2007 FLHRSE for a 2009 FLTRSE in 2009. Was not too happy with the 2007 due to the 5 motors. However, the Motor Company stepped up along with a local dealer and I was extremely happy with the $27,900.00 I received for the 2007 FLHRSE with 35000 miles on it and the discounted price on the 2009 FLTRSE $29,000.00. If you like a bike with a fork mounted fairing you will like the Street Glide, whether you will like the power will be your decision.

Everyone brings up excellent points for both bikes. I told myself if HD made the SERSG or keep the SERK one more yr I would go for it. Well they made the SERK instead..So I went for it with no regrets.  I've never looked at another bike thinking thats bad a***** and how can I make my look like that. When you are at that point you are G to G.

 I think it really boils down to what you are willing to pay for bring your bike back to custom. Having the same bike as everyone else and how it rides. I bought a FLHRSE08 and put 25,000miles on it the first year and half I bought it. The bike is awesome and only spent a fraction on customizing it. Now in my neck of the woods I have only seen one other bike like mine in 3yrs I've been here. The down side is finding a mechanic I trust to work on it...

What ever you choose, have fun and always be safe...

I haven't moved away from the King for the Street Glide. I'm fortunate enough to have both. 

I have approx 40000 miles on the SERKs / just under 5000 on the SESG

SERK: better handling in high speed twisties (even with the new frame), more nimble, easier to clean, Progressive Monotubes work very well on this scooter, "feels" like your on a motorcycle - no fairing

SESG positives: better protection in bad weather (rain, snow, cold) with fairing and lowers, radio, cuts thru the wind a little better than a SERK w/windshield

It really depends on if you like to ride to your limits while still on a bagger or are willing to sacrifice a little for more protection and sounds. If I could only keep one, it would be my SERK4. (and God knows she's been a PIA) Since I can have both, I do. FWIW.

Fork Mounted Faring is on a Road Glide not Street Glide

I disagree 100%
Does the Street Glide fairing move with the turn of the wheel?
The answer is yes.
Therefore the StreetGlide fairing is fork mounted.
The RoadGlide has a frame mounted fairing, thus, the fairing does not move when the wheel is turned.

Yep, My bad i misread the post, Road Glide has frame mounted, Street Glide has fork mounted faring.
