HD's new tourpak lightbar
« on: March 26, 2010, 11:43:40 PM »

I got one of the new LED light bars that were introduced on the 2010 SEEG.

First let me say the moco has a real big set charging what they do for this kit. List is $480

This picture shows the template. I have it placed lower then the instructions indicated so that the light bar would cover the graphic

This kit is flush mounting, no big cut outs like the older version.

The only intrusion to the inside are these lock nuts and of course the wire harness.

Red's new tourpak light bar
« Reply #6 on: March 26, 2010, 11:55:34 PM »

I'm a little disappointed that the end lights are single intensity. But the biggest disappointment is the supplied hardware to mount the kit.
There are 7 studs in the actual LED sections of the bar that hold the assembly to the tourpak.

The attachment nuts are lock nuts of the "pinched" variety.

So, 4 of the seven lock nuts did their job - and when I went to remove the nuts they stripped out the threads in the LED housings.

I haven't been back to the dealer yet to bitch and see if I can get it warranted. But when it does go back together I now have 7 stainless machine screw acorn nuts to use.
Funny thing is I had planned on getting the acorns anyway to keep the screw ends from scratching anything I put in the tour pak.

I have not done it yet, but Custom Dynamics makes an (ECLIPZE MODULE)  that converts the corner lights to turn signals as well as running lights. It is an easy conversion for $24.95 I do plan on ordering the module soon.

That would probably operate the same as the stock turn signals then. No intensity change, just turn on and off.

I already have a module for the turn signals, hopefully I will be able to take the feed from that. But I think my wire harness is about filled up and don't know if there is room for two more wires.
And I still plan on painting the light bar to match, although I am starting to wonder if it is all worth it.

By the time I get done buying paint and having it painted (along with some other stuff) it will have cost 10% of the the bike price when new  :o

As it is I have almost $2300 into it, before paint.

I put the Custom Dynamics eclipse modules on mine and you are correct, the corners will blink but not be the brighter intensity like the center brake light.

Nice writeup/pictures as usual.  Duane and his 2004,05,06,07,08,09,10 SEEG..  Looks good!

Any word yet Duane on warranty from the dealer?  Seeing those studs pull out too easily would significantly annoy me.

Did they just pull out without any breakage anywhere?  Such that if the dealer doesn't help out easily an epoxy or other adhesive might get you going again w/o much trouble?

Nice upgrade on the light bar.

You're correct, the price is a tad bit on the high side.  But you bought so in their mind not high enough...

Oh well, still looks great though.   :2vrolijk_21:

I know that on the standard tourpak that the lids are interchangeable between them and the chopped tourpaks, so for a certain distance down from the lid the shape of a standard and chopped should be about the same.  Any chance that this new light bar will work or fit on a chopped tourpak?

I have the '09 SERG with the chopped and I put the LED spoiler on top like yours.  I used my Back Off module on the LEDs only and kept the standard function of the vertical LED lights in the filler panels.

But more lights on the rear that somewhat match the other LEDs would be cool too.

So, ya think it would fit a chopped tourpak?

Thanks.

Hey Lockwood, I have been wondering about fitment on a chopped tour pak as well. I measured from the underside of a 2010 CVO Ultra, and it looks like we need 4 and 1/2 inches to bottom of LED light bar. I agree shape from under lid should be the same, I think it will add a lot to a chopped pak.
I think it is really nice of you to offer to buy and install one, LOL.

Thanks to Duane I was able to borrow the template and instructions and add the LED light bar to my 2012 King pak.
