HELP with shift linkage please!!!!
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:00:09 AM »

I got the new Screamin Eagle shift linkage and put it on, very easy install.  I rode this morning and the lever won't return on downshift, it returns just fine when shifting up.  Has anyone else had this problem and what was the correction?

No but I developed a loud squeaking/chirping noise from when I shift and I ended up having to lubricate the rod ends that came with the shifter and all noises went away.

The letter "g" on mine touches the inner primary cover.  I tried shortening the eye bolts to raise it, but even after cutting off some of the threads, it still touches.  I haven't ridden since I installed it, but will find out this weekend if there is a problem shifting or if it is just going to wear a spot on the inner primary cover.

Easiest fix ever.  The eye bolt on the transmission side was getting in a bind.  Just loosened the nut and adjusted the vertical position and it's all good now.

I just installed mine too.  No problems with shifting. But, it does move a little if you twist it. Does anyone else's do that? :nixweiss:

The ends are gimble and should move slightly, and keep them ends lubed so they do not bind.  Doc

Recommended lube for the gimbles?

The same squeak happened to me...

I finally drilled a second hole in the chrome cover of the transmission arm and that gave me enough clearance.  If you look close, you can see the shadow of the second bolt under the one holding the linkage in place.
