Removing Fiberglass Wrap from Mikuni Baffles
« on: April 01, 2010, 12:11:25 PM »

Very pleased with my performance upgrades on my 2010 cvo Ultra and will be posting as soon as the dyno run is done in about 10 days. Sound with V&H Power Duals and the short, Mikuni Performance baffles in the Kirker slip ons is sweet. Its my understanding that removal of the fiberglass wrapping on the baffles will give me a little more volume. Anybody done this? Advice appreciated as always.

Tried pulling the baffles today but could not get them out. Bike was on a hoist and I tried like the devil to get them out. My wrench will be home in about 10 days and I will ask him to do them; stay tuned.

I ran Kerkers with Mikuni PAT baffles for several years. You can make them change tone by removing the packing but unless your ears are different then mine you wont like the change, kind of a metallic sound. My Mikuni Baffles fully packed would shatter ear drums, I took one extended trip with them and my ears rang for days afterward, that was on an 01 Ultra I cant imagine what the decible level would be on a 110.

Must be the Power Duals muffle more of the sound. Mine are nice, deep rumble but far below what most would consider offensive; was just seeking a little more volume but I was affraid the richness of the sound might be lost with the fiberglass removal. Thanks

I have the kerker mikuni slip-ons with the V & H power duals on my Limited.
This is a 103 motor with 255 cams and CNC heads and high compression pistons.

Love the sound but to load for me....my ears rings for hours after riding.  I am going to install kerker K3 baffles, the are around 2-4 db quieter :coolblue:
