Missing wire on Garage door opener
« on: April 03, 2010, 08:02:14 AM »

I bought my 07 SEUC used. The previous owner gave me the garage door transmitter and power adapter, but it is missing the plug in wire that goes to the actual garage door opener. HD says that wire is not avail seperately. Anyone know if this is a part common to some other setup or where or how one could be obtained?
Thanks

You could take it a part and hard wire it to the unit with a light 28 gauge or so wire.

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're asking.  The transmitter is the part of the system on the bike.  The receiver is outside the bike, plugs to household power and has a two wire set that goes to remote operation screws on your GDO motor.

If that's the piece you're asking about and that pair of wires has been lost it shouldn't be a total loss.  For some difficult to explain reason HD doesn't offer a separate part number for that little plug in harness.  If you're not handy with a soldering iron as mentioned above take the receiver and a few feet of door bell or speaker wire to some local electronics shop.  Ask them to connect the wire to the two pins.

Ya, it is the part that mounts to the garage door opener.  I was kinda hoping it was a standard plug that craftsman or somebody might sell. I will have to get a better look. had it 2 years now and just never get around to it. Keep the little one that came with the door opener in my bike but curse every time I forget to get it out before I pull back into driveway.

Thanks

I always did the same thing and it got real old.  I really think that if you took the receiver a part and connected a light wire you would be fine.  The wire that came with it was about 35 feet long red and black wire of a really small gauge wire with a white clip on it that slid into the back of the receiver.

Go to your local garage door opener company it is the same connector that connects the safety electric eyes to garage door opener.

Might also be the same connector on a 2 wire computer fan connector.

Turns out the two pin plug is almost exactly like the one that comes on a cordless phone battery that plugs into the phone in the battery compartment.  Had an old phone and cut it off.  Filed the the edges a bit and it fit right in.  I'm kicking myself in the butt now for not hooking it up two years ago. Thing is awesome
