Very cool. These guys always impress me. But my favorite of all time was The Wheelie King, Doug Domokos, R.I.P.
Doug was one of those guys that made it look so easy, it wasn't impressive. We were in Puerto Rico and visited HardRock Cafe in Old San Juan back in about April of '92 or '93. Doug knew one of the bouncers there, who happened to ride. His softail was parked in front and he offered Doug a ride. Doug threw his leg over it, and proceeded to crank it up on the back wheel, and rode a wheelie all the way down the street, around the corner, back up an alley, and back down to the HRC. All total about two city blocks, four left turns, and never set it down. You could hear him on the gas the entire way.
Doug parked it, got off and said, "pretty snappy for a big bike". And keep in mind, most of the streets in old San Juan are cobblestone. Doug could wheelie, as slow as you can walk or as fast as the bike could run. He once wheelied all the way around Talladega Motor Speedway for numerous laps, until the bike ran out of gas. He was as graceful on a bike as a ballet dancer on stage.
He was truly an inspiration on two wheels. Unfortunately he passed way too early, due to a tragic hang-gliding accident.
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread... it just spurred some good memories of a lost friend.
