Decided on Fullsac
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:34:57 PM »

After a nice conversation with Steve, I've decided to go with Fullsac...X-Pipe and 1.75" baffles. Can't wait to see how this upgrade performs. I'll report back after the installation is complete.

You're going to be impressed I'm sure. Getting that cat out and with Steve's map you will really know what that 110 can do.

Enjoy.

Jesse,
Your thread helped give me the 'nudge'. Plus it was great to talk to Steve one-on-one and tell him what I desired. You can't beat that kind of service.

I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.  That's the same combination I have on my '09 SERG and I'm a satisfied customer.

You might also consider the addition of the Andrews 54 cams and Steve's appropriate map. I went in looking for more torque. Got that but in addition, the reduction in operating heat is incredible.  Thanks Steve.

You believe the cam change made a difference in engine heat?

I talked to Steve again yesterday. The Andrews 54 cams would add about 10 hp but would do little to reduce heat.

He could have made some additional $$$ off me if he said 'yes' to the cam swap...but he knew my goal...and was honest. Ya gotta love it.

The 54s do a lot of good things besides increasing power. Less heat? For some, maybe.

The CVO 110s with stock 255 cams on a hot day will ping their guts out on anything less than 91 oct fuel. Pinging raises eng temps rapidly.
The 54s drop cranking pressure 10 pounds relieving pinging. For many, this means less heat.

If you go from a stock bike straight to a stage II 54 cam package, The power increase is huge and the heat reduction is dramatic under normal riding.
Its a package deal of more power, proper AFRs and increased overall effientcy. Less heat for sure. Was it the cams alone? No.

My personal experiences;
In my dyno room, under controlled and monitored conditions, I can not document any reduction in cylinder temp from the install of a 54 cam.
The higher HP bikes at wide open throttle absolutely produce more heat. Its simple math. A typical 54 install shows a 10 HP gain. More oxygen
in, more fuel burned, more BTUs released in the combustion chamber, more power produced, more heat vollume disipated at full throttle.

The real world:
Old lady on the back, cruise set at 75MPH, stereo on. My 94 HP 96" 54 camed 09 Bagger runs nice and cool.
Is it the 54 cams? The old lady couldn't care less.

More real world:
Boys ride with Dangerous Dale the Notorious Gold Wing crasher.
When Goldwing stays behind Harley, Harley stays nice and cool.
When Goldwing gets in front of Harley, Harley with stock cams runs very hot after being held wide open for an hour on the rev limiter unable to overtake
Laughing Hobbit on Goldwing. Harley gets Stage II X Pipe kit, now Harley stays in front of Goldwing. Harley runs nice and cool, Hobbit gives up and rides
tail where he belongs. Was it the 54 cams? The Hobbit's convinced.

When changing to the 1.75 baffles, no cc, and Steve's map last year, noticed no heat change. Incredible difference, with cam change, last week I thought. Beauty of aging, you have new experiences and meet new people every day, lol
