Need measurement of stock front end- Road Glide
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:35:48 PM »

Can someone get me the measurement from the ground to the corner of shroud cover like the pic. It shows 35 3/4" after the Progressive Monotube was installed.  There is a clunk when hitting the front brake at any speed, slow or fast. Does not do it when brake applied slowly.  Been working with Progressive on the phone a lot.  They want to know if the heights are the same of stock CVO Road Glide and mine.  We checked the neck bearing and front rotors and it's not them. It also bottomed out when going over a slight curb into the gas station, but not when riding or hitting the brake hard.  They are at a loss, but seem to be very helpful in trying to find the answer. Thanks

Mine's about 36 1/2". This is with Ricor dampers if that makes any difference.

Thanks guys. I had meetings Fri and Sat all day. Hope to stop by the dealership next week and see what they have on the floor to measure also. I assume the regular Road Glide would be the same height as the CVO.

Might try a more common measurement, bottom of cowbells to center of front axle.  That takes static load into account as wel as different wheel/tire sizes, actual suspension measurment.  I have read where the first sets of monotube could in some cases lead to 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower static height, newer sets are supposed to have a spacer kit to raise this if needed.  Link below to another forum with info. LOL, well at least that is what I call them...........they are the chrome covers just above the lower fork legs but below the fairing.  If you slide your hand along the forks up from the axle, they will be the first thing your hand hits above the fender, looks like they slide over your lower forks.  If you measure from the center of the axle to the bottom of these, the measurment will take into account suspension sag or static height and compensate for different tire size or brand.  Kinda think you want to see how much your front end is sagging....?  Hope that helps, also don't sit on the bike, just wieght of the bike on the forks, no rider.
