Dang....Now I Need A Larger Headlight!
« on: April 12, 2010, 07:54:58 PM »

Well I was at the Harley shop today (that always cost me money) anyway I was talking to the salesman that bought my 09 Heritage off me about the windshield on the ConV.

We took a HD Nostalgic windshield low profile and tinted light Grey and put it on to see how it would look. Other than needing to change the mounting bolts that come with it, it is a five minute job to mount it. Now although the shield looks great as it matches the Nostalgic Engine Guard perfectly, now I think it needs the larger 7-inch FB headlight (we have the 4.5 inch).

I think with the Custom Dynamics LEDs combined with the bigger headlight will make it look BA, lets hope so anyway cause it ain't cheap changing headlights.

I'm thinking about starting a H.A chapter (Harley Anonymous) as I have not been able to stop myself from putting new parts on a bike that I was SURE had everything already on it. :nervous:

Dave,

You are not alone. When my out-of-state discount HD parts vendor sees my number on caller ID and answers "Hi Mike" you know you have a problem.

I'm OK though. I only need 1 more part and I am done with the mods....

Dave,  I am considering doing the same.  Will the Fatboy headlight fit in our Natacele (sp?)--ie the chrome backer piece behind the headlight ?

I have ordered the Fatboy windshield, so I assume it will fit around this larger headlamp.

Very interested in discussing further.

At this time I think it will fit. The Dealer I work with is top notch and they are making some inquires on exact fitments and get back with me on Fri when I stop in.  I will get back with you when I know.

I don't have all the info yet....but I do know it is going to be $225. for the assembly and a new mounting block. I still need to get down there and talk to them some more but I have been swamped at work. I will let you know when I get more info if any.

Hi, I'm thinking to do the same mod, do you know if there is a possibility to use the original windshield? Actually I don’t understand why MoCo installed a so little headlight in a so beautiful and strong front end, the light seems like a wrong size suite, not elegant.

Has anyone completed this larger headlight modification that can supply the kit or part numbers?

Time to make a change.

I did not change the headlight nacelle but I did install the HD LED bulb. It sure throws plenty of light and the look has really grown on me.

Hey Mike, Is this the one you replaced it with? I found it in the on-line catalog...

Performance Headlamp Bulb

This Xenon gas-filled replacement headlamp bulb lights the way with a whiter, more natural light. The coating on the lamp shows a slight blue tint to the oncoming traffic.
