paint matching
« on: April 14, 2010, 03:14:37 PM »

I know this topic has come up alot on this site, but I'm toying with the idea of extended saddle bags any painters out there who can color match and flame graphic match to a 2010 SEUC riptide blue titanium dust?

Yes there are.  It might help though if you specified your approximate location.  No sense in shipping parts you don't have to.

I'm doing the exact same to my 2010 SEUC riptide blue in addition to changing to a SG rear fender and fascia.  Parts have been at the painter since 3/15 should get them back this weekend or next.  They assured me they could match the paint and flame graphics without a problem - we shall see.  I left both original saddle bags with them when I delivered the new parts.  I will post pictures when I get the parts back.  The painter is Boitnotts out of Fairfield Ohio.  You can check out their website - www.boitnotts.com.  They are the ones that matched 2010 spiced rum SG paint on a license plate frame for another forum member TIF2.  He seemed pleased with the results.  They are about a six hour drive from my location.  I wanted to talk in person to the shop doing the work.  I'm sure there are others out there who can also match the paint.

my buddy sent his cvo ultra side cover to ppg and they made 3 samples for him to choose from. They did a great job of matching.

wish I would have known someone in Wi could match cvo paint. Any way I sent my custom made chin spoiler to Jeff at gunslinger customs in Golden Co. He actually knows the codes and can match perfectly. Trust me the cvo sunrise yellow pearl was a tuff one to even try to match for the guys that I tried even though I found out that harley uses Planet color from Sherwin Williams auto paint division. Not only was the color match hard to match but the series of coats of maple topcoat and flake color had to be right. Jeff was great to work with and painted my part and sent it back fast, even before I paid him. Real stand up if you ask me.

I can't say it enough times... Paint By Gene (a.k.a BigFaty's / Gene Nielsen --- www.bigfatys.com).  Just got hard bags and a tour pak back from them yesterday for my '08 SERK and they're perfect.  I can't speak to other painters or what they can do but I can tell you that matching the paint on the '08 SERK, particularly the silver / ghost flames MUST be very difficult and they handle it extremely well.  This was the second round for me with them as they did a helmet for me originally to match the same bike and both times were the same high level of quality.

I think there are others here who would back this but I'll let them speak for themselves... or you can do a search on the forum for "Paint by Gene".

Some proof...  the pictures aren't the greatest quality but I think you'll get the point...  I haven't had a chance to get everything out in natural light yet...
