Rivco Center Stand
« on: February 05, 2006, 07:19:59 AM »

I'm interested in installing a center stand on my 05 RG currentl set up with 12" 440 std. rear shocks, I've noticed that a few members have installed the Rivco center stand by reading previous threads and am inquiring how they are working out. Will the adjustable center stand work at my current set up (lowered) with out the use of boards or needing an overhead hoist to lift the rear of the bike. I forgot to mention I have the comfort style saddle bag guards installed. Any comments would be appreciated.

LV76,

I have had my center stand for only a short time, so I can't give a full testimonial.

You want to order the adjustable stand and adjust it all the way down with the 12" shocks. The stand will take all of 15 minutes to install. It will be a lot easier to get the bike up onto the stand by using the saddlbag guards that you have installed as a handle. Once you figure the technique out it's a snap to use. (hint: Stand on the center stand lever with all your weight and let that lift the bike). [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif]

Larry,

I purchased mine direct from Rivco, $319 plus about $11 shipping if I remember correctly.

Did you remove the stock jiffy stand before installing the new center stand?

roadrunner,

No.  You will need to have the bike on the jiffy stand while you install the center stand.  I still use the jiffy stand for most short term parking, and just use the center stand for longer term parking / storage, or when I want the bike sitting level with the rear tire off the ground for maintenance, cleaning, etc.  For instance, the bike is currently sitting in the garage on the center stand, covered, waiting for the spring thaw.

I have not yet installed my Rivco centerstand yet----Suddenly I realized I need saddlebag guard rails to lift the bike on the stand.  Does anybody know the correct part # for my 2004 SEEG?

Jackhd-
The comfort profile saddlebag guards out of the accessory book are part#
49087-01 for $145.95 and you still have to buy 2 lower saddlebag/muffler bar supports as yours won't work with the profile guards or the guards  that are on a SEUltra.
I put the guards on my SEEG2 that are on the SEUltra.  I picked them up on Ebay-keep watching and you will find them and the supports for a lot less than the MOCO price.
I don't know the part# of the SEUltra guards or supports but they are the same as on the EG std..  I believe everything new from HD is around $300.00  ..

MYCVO; My centerstand locks back pretty securely. It takes a fairly hefty heave to rock it off of the centerstand. I wonder if the stealer installed a short centerstand on the standard height Ultra? That would allow it to come off of the stand a LOT easier.
