But then you will have to wait another 2 years(at least) until the facotry works out all the bugs with the new water cooling setup.
For whatever reason it seems HD is actually (and finally) making strides to catch up (some) on management and control systems. TBW, the new HDLAN system, ABS across more of the fleet and who knows what will come from next. All these systems will start in one family and propagate across the fleet.
Sounds like a good thing. A long reach toward modernity from a company that thinks its first attempt at engine monitoring in the 21st century using o2 sensors that automotive mftrs had phased out by 1990 or so deserved acclaim.
From most companies it might be a good thing. With Harley it will be a necessary evil. Because they've proved they can almost never get new roll outs done right or easily or seamlessly.
So for the next ten years as they continue this effort to catch up, so they can meet current and future mandates, I honestly don't expect there will be a time when some part of the fleet and some cadre of owners won't be experiencing the "next" two year cycle of "getting the bugs out" of something.
I hope I'm wrong. But I'm not optimistic about the broad sweep of the ownership experience for the next decade. Expect it be merely a continuation of the decline in overall QC, the hassles as they evade responsibility and the difficulties concomitant to their trying to catch up that we've already seen begin over the last half decade.
They've learned how to get away with cutting corners. They've built that in to their culture and seemingly accepted it as their ethos. God help them (because owners finally won't) when that eventually bites them in the ass.
