I installed the new Thundermax on my 2009 SERG Monday. The total installation took about 45 minutes, with most of the time spent on routing the wide band oxygen sensor cables. The unit came programmed with a base map for my bike, so I didn't bother doing that. It started instantly, like always and settled down to a warm idle of about 975 rpm. It took about 5 miles of riding for the unit to dial in the tuning, and my seat of the pants impression is that it pulls about like my softail which has a 120 cu in Merch Performance motor/mikuni HSR45/Samsom long shots. The merch has a bit more low end torque, but the SERG revs faster. It ran flawlessly during my initial ride, and the improvements after removing the stock exhaust/catalytic converter are substantial. I'm quite satisfied, and I vastly prefer this to dyno tuning. I will probably access the unit to lower the idle speed to about 850. I still had really good oil pressure at the 975 default warm idle. With the stock ECU and catalytic converter the bike ran pretty hot, with lots of heat around that catalytic exhaust. My oil temps were routinely about 225-245 degrees F. After a 12 mile ride with the new setup my oil temperature was only 145 degrees F. Now that is an improvement! The amount of heat on the right side of the bike is markedly reduced.
