Finally decided to take the plunge and get a set of hard bags for my cobalt blue 07. I bought a set of mint takeoffs versus buying new from HD. Now I need to get them painted. There is a local painter that does real good work but I hear a lot about Gene (Paint by Gene). Any comments on their experience with this? How much did the paint match finally cost (less the bags themselves) ?

I've seen Gene's work on Howie's scooter. Top notch job!

I used a local painter I knew to be very good as well as meticulous. I wanted to see the layout in person before painting. Bags and tour pak was around $1200 if I recall correctly.

e-mail them with what you have, and explain what you want done, and they will send you an e-mail back with a quote.  I fed-ex'ed my stuff to them in Washington state.  shipping wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be
