Something to ponder......
« on: April 29, 2010, 11:51:39 AM »

I've seen a few things on the SESG that I don't care for but I keep it to myself.  I'm glad that we're different, have different tastes and I'm well aware that nobody was put on this earth to live by my standards, taste, etc. and it's all good.

I kind of look at it like this.....when you put something ugly, stupid or just plain rediculous on your bike (somebody else said it best "looks like they rode through Pep Boys with a junk magnet") then it just makes mine look that much nicer.  Having said that, I realize that there are people that don't care for the way I have mine set up and that's O.K. they're entitled to their opinion also.  No foul, no harm. :2vrolijk_21:

But I've got to say that I've seen a few pictures of something that just makes my mind lurch. :nervous:  Nothing else has had quite the same effect but for some reason this does. :nixweiss:

One of the best features of the SESG (and the SERG before us) is the lines, the profile of the rear end.  The tail lights incorporated into the facia in a verticle form to add to the custom look, the curve of the fender to where it just flows and follows the slanted line of the back of the saddle bags.  You guys know what I mean.  And because of those lines and the flow, we all know that a tour pack doesn't belong on the back of a SESG unless it's being used for function (because it certainly robs from the "look").  But it seems like there are a few owners running around with a luggage rack hanging off the back of their bikes......ruining the flow, the smooth lines of the rear of our bikes.  There is just no way a luggage rack looks cool on our bike.....not even remotely.  Like the tour pack, they should be there for function only.

O.K, I've said it.  I'm sorry if I've offended anybody and if I have.  Now I'll get off my  :soapbox:

You guys have a great day and go for a ride this weekend! :2vrolijk_21:

For function, right? :nixweiss:   I mean when we see pics of your bike with it on there, it'll have a t-bag strapped to it right? :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:  And soon as you get to the hotel at the rally site, like the king tour pack, it'll come off and go in the room till you're ready to head back home.  I mean why do you think TJ sold it? :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Just funnin with you.  I know why TJ sold it......it wouldn't work with the Corbin pillion.  Don't pay me any attention....I'll be the first to admit my thinkin is a little twisted anyway. ???

this post is freek'n me out. Not 30 seconds ago i asked for suggestions for temp luggage on another thread. I admit for the number of times i go long distances, i really am against a tourpack becasue of the cost and i think i agree that a luggage rack is not something i really want either.

What types of t-bag can i strap onto the backrest and sit on the rear seat are out there that will suit?

Tour pack, luggage rack, whatever.....we all use them for storage space from point A to point B (this summer you'll see me and the wife riding all the way from Key West to Sacramento lookin like a couple hillbillys.

If you ride solo, there's a solo rack (sits right up behind the rider) that's not to bad looking and is actually big enough and flat enough to be very practical, that the MoCo has.  It's also nice because it keeps all the weight over the back tire rather than behind it.

Not waiting to jump at all. I like most of what you have done to yours. I am not sure I'm convinced on the DD gauges. I like what they offer but really like the look of the stock ones. In my book you are the raining king of upgrades just wanted to hear what you don't like. I have seen alot of things on here I would love to have.( your bike, Dickw's Ultra and others) really didn't like the Fatboy with the chopper style front end on it. But that's just me.  Personally I want a Riptanium Ultra + the SESG rear end and bag bottoms, detach TP, J$M ..................No need to go on.

I went up to Redding (200 miles) with Jon to pick up his new SEUC.  On the way back we stopped on one of the off ramps for a few.  I told him, Jon, make the tour pack removable and put the SESG rear end on that bike and you'll have the best bike on the forum.  A few months later....sounds like the bike you're wanting..........  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=45607.0

I think I have a complex now. I am one of those guys with a luggage rack (detachable of course) and just thought, you know what, you are right! It will go on top of the cabinet until needed.
