Paint Problem
« on: February 08, 2006, 04:19:12 PM »

I took ownership of mine, black candy crimson and charcoal slate in late December and no paint problems. The born date was 11-17-05. It's possible mine might had sat till they got it right. I do live in factory town. [smiley=banana.gif]

thats Great news!!!! so they actually do make a Black Crimson that looks good, even when there is daylight out. Now for the bad news.....Your bikes are going to be subpoenaed for evidence on our lawsuit pending HD's decision on the Paint the rest of us are unhappy with, should only be a 2 month trial , so youll  have them back before summers ends ........ ;D

Now that is effed up.

Obviously no solution yet from the MoCo.  They obviously didn't have enough info when your parts went into them to know that the entire run from the supplier is screwed up.

They at least sent new parts, that means they are trying???, I have not heard anything, but want your rep to also handle my claim.....I still feel like Im getting blown off here. What dealership is handling your claim??? So if they fix one, they have to fix all?, correct??

I guess the good news is we now are getting the results that show the MoCo knows it has an issue.

The bad news is they don't know the gravity of it or at least didn't when they sent Falcon's dealer the replacement parts.

Cigarmike;
Wolverine H D in Clinton Twp, Michigan is my dealer.
They have been sticking by me all the way.
In fact I think the MoCo is getting sick of them, not that they care.

Had a  conversation with a friend of mine back in WI about the paint issue on CVO's. He works for the MOFOCO, but not in the paint or quality engineering dept., so would rather not get directly involved because he'd like to retire with a pension.

Basically it mirrors what's been said here. The 'party line' is that they're really aware of the issues with CVO paint, but say CVO paint is not held to the normal MOCO paint standardization requirements since they're 'custom' paint jobs and there are going to be 'variances' in the paint jobs for this reason. Gives them thier own individual identity sort of thing. This goes back to 2002 SERKS with the Brandywine paint, causing them to only do maybe 300+ of those before going to the purple version.  He wouldn't say if this was put in a service bulletin or not, just what they're being told by management and to stress in sale of CVO's.

Remember any problems with paint on the 2000-2001 SERG's, I don't ? Guess we weren't getting individual identities back then huh ? What a crock! >:(

I spliced two topics, "Paint Problems" and "Paint Problem Resolutions" into the same thread at the request of a topic moderator.

For the record, the MoCo is well aware of the problem with the paint, it held up production for three weeks.  I don't have the problem so I don't have any first hand knowledge of it.  But I will say that in my humble opnion, it seems to be at the discreation of the Regional Rep. in some locations and in others, the dealership makes the call.  Here in Sacramento, it seems to be at the discreation of the dealerships and to my knowledge, everybody who is having problems is getting new paint without it being an issue of "if" but more an issue of just "when?".  And then of course, will it arrive better quality than that which you're replacing.

For those, at least there is the consolation of accepting responsability and "trying".  I really feel for those who can't even get anybody to accept that there is a problem. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I had forgotten about this. Wonder if the MoCo will decide to do this again.... "Problem with paint, then we don't make anymore this color." [smiley=nervous.gif] Anybody know what they did in 2002 for owners of Brandywine SERK's?
