FUTUR CVO OWNER NEED ADVISE
« on: May 02, 2010, 12:00:52 PM »

Hi every one I am about to buy a FLHTCUSE2 in a few days but after all i've read in this site I don't know if it's a really good idea because of the reliability of this model.
Did the campaign solved the problems of oil leaking ?
The bike I want has 11 500 miles and is from april 2007. I don't want to spent my time at the repair shop ;).If I buy this bike it's to keep it the longest time possible.
Thanks for your precious advices.

If the recall has been done, you may buy it with no problems.
Great bike.
Ride safe.

I've seen some bikes had changed 3 times rear cylinder's gasket and needed more than ten times warranty intervention ...
My heart says go but my head says no,no,no...

Check the service history of this bike, or ask the dealer service manager to run a service check with Harley. Find out what mods have been done, air filter/exhaust, does it have a power commander (or similar tuning device) fitted?
Then make your decision, its a great bike, an eye catcher, but be aware it will run hotter (even after all mods) than other Harley motor you have been used too.

Is there any current or ancient owner of FLHTCUSE2 who can tell me about their stories with this bike (problems, experiences, transformations ....)?
Thanks!

I have a B&O 07 SEUC and love it!!  The only problem I've had with it was the rear cylinder started seeping oil around the rear head gasket.  I had the performance enhancement done, and haven't had a problem since.  I have over 11K on the engine since the performance enhancement was done.  Like was said earlier, get the maintenance history from the dealer.  If it's had the mod done, you're good to go.  Like I said, I love mine.

I had a '07 and blew out the rear cyclinder...check the service records and I would suggest an extended warranty if you can get one...good luck.  It is a great looking scoot!!!!

I have that same bike but different color with many more miles than that and have NEVER had a problem with it, before or since the recall.

I would lean more towards a new 2010 limited ultra with the 103 motor.  They will both be the around the same price and the 103 had less problems.

IMHO
There is worlds of difference between the 103 that was in CVO's thru 2006 and the 103 that's now in the limited and the trikes.
For me, the old 103 is a great motor and the new one is a poor imitation subject to the same problems as the 96" and 110" motor.

The only way to have peace of mind in mho is to weld the crank and change out the cylinders or completly redo that 110 or take it out and replace with different motor. Mine had several head gasket and base gaskets replaced and was worked over and still ran hotter than it should have. Now have the Jim's 131 and it runs 20-30 degrees cooler and has way more power and no leaks. Good luck in your decision. If it were me I think I would look at a 2010 or 11.

There is a reason why Harley only puts the 103 motor in their police bikes and its because they can hold up to the rigars of police work and the motor has been proven.  The 103 I have in my 04 Screamin Eagle Electra Glide is for the most part is the same 103 motor thats in my 09 police electra glide except for the heads and cams.  I ride the police bike in the hot Houston temps at extreme conditions everyday.  The motor has performed well with very little breakdowns.  My 04 Screamin Eagle has also been great with no motor, transmission or any other failures except for minor chrome peeling on the front wheel.  If the 110 motor was that improved and Harley knew it would be trouble free they would put it into the police bikes.
