No TTS For Me.

Well, I ordered my TTS and all was well until Friday night. Got home and my Son and Daughter had a surprise for me. They knew that all I have been talking about lately was getting a tuner, well being the wonderful children they are they got with their Mother and bought me an early Father Days gift.

Yup.....SEPST kit, as you can imagine I was very surprised and they were very proud of themselves as was I. Needless to say some things are more important than money so I sneaked into the bedroom and canceled my TTS order.

I downloaded the software and got everything working this weekend and holy smokes does the bike run stronger. I have not tried the Smart Tune yet and the map I used is exactly for my muffles, I will try that this week yet. I was very surprised at how easy the unit is to use...if the TTS is as easy to use as this I can see why everyone loves it.

The only issue I have is the 6th gear light stopped working for some reason and I cant figure out why. Anyway I can live with the light not working for now as the bike runs so much better.

Wiz, I know you told me that it would run stronger but I never imagined how much difference it would make. Thanks a bunch as I wasn't going to get a tuner until I talked with you.

Not sure if its just me but the pipes sound deeper and a little louder as well???

Any idea on the 6th gear light?

The ConV is a little different than other Harley's yet similar to Dyna class in some ways when it comes to the 6th gear light. (got that info from TTS)

Since the 6th gear light works off of the VSS the ECM looks for a signal range at a preset RPM. Once in range the 6th gear light comes on. When you flash the ECM it upsets that range. Using the TTS you simply reset the "Primary Ratio" from 1.353 to 1.330 in the Tuning Constants and the 6th gear light will work. Can't do that with the SEST.

I'm not sure that MoCo has a fix for this but maybe they can reset it with a digital technician at a dealership.  :nixweiss:

The only issue with the 6th gear light not working is the cruise control if equipped quits at the same time. What has caused all of the issues is the gear in the 2010 transmission was changed from a straight cut gear to a helical cut gear. The sensor picks up two teeth instead of one sometimes because of it and that means it counts different. This difference is why we have to change the primary ratio setting. What's funny is that only some bikes do it so it's borderline working. In Mastertune a simple adjustment of the ratio solves it but the others have no way currently to do it.

The same problem happens for those who change there primary gears to give the bike more throttle response and low end.

That's pretty much the same info I got from Gary although the ConV doesn't have cruise. He told me to change our Primary Ratio and it worked liked it has worked for the Dyna class. There's a lot the competitors don't have Steve. This is why we like your TTS.

Hey Wiz,

Current HD MoCo has no way of fixing the 6th gear light problem. They are aware of the problem and said a bulletin will be out when they have the fix. So in the mean time those who have the Mastertune have the only fix for the problem but hey,,,,,, its a 6th gear indicator light. Anyone who has been riding for any length of time does not need a light to tell you what gear you are in. You listen to the rpms and enjoy the ride. In the mean time they will get it figured out.

Now about the bike in general, one word says it,,,,Sweet.

Ride safe and have fun.
