Map update question

If you download a map update does this also update the map data in Map Source?  What if you have Map Source on more than one computer as I do - desktop and notebook.  How would I update Map Source on the second computer?  In the past I've gotten updates on DVD but the lifetime update option is only for download as I understand it.
