Nope the tank has to come off and it takes a special socket that can be made.

Dewey,  I know you've had experience with these before.  In your opinion,  how long should a fellow go on a stock bike before he either replaces them or does some sort of maintenance on them to keep them in the head?
Is it normal use that causes them to loosen up or is it something different about the way the bike has been riden that has caused the frequent trouble with the ACR's?

If they are tight to begin with and loctite is applied I see no reason for them to loosen. They are similar to a spark plug and we don't use any loctite on them at all. As far as replacement, I don't know. They are on the first revision now and we will have to see how reliable they are before deciding when they need to be changed. I have plugged a few sets of heads I had in the shop and installed conventional manual releases.

Automatic Compression Release
The 110's have them from the factory and are automatically controlled by the ECM when you start your bike to take a bit of the load off the starter to turn the engine.
Just remember that if you put a Super Tuner on your bike (assuming it's a 110 CVO) the default setting on the ACR's is "disabled"

Is this statement supposed to be true for a SERT??  I had a SE air cleaner, SERT, RTDs, and dyno at 1K.  Without compression release, the starter won't last long.  My rear ACR started messing up and the kick back about tore the starter out of the bike.  I had it replaced and it's been good...up until recently at 30K miles and I am getting the occasional kick again....might need to go let the boys have a look at the dealer before the warranty runs out in June.
