Did the deed on the passenger intercom last night after a nice evening ride.  I put the tie wrap next to the bottom screw and have the end just sticking out in the seam between the seat and the speaker box.  It is solid and accessable.  I showed the wife and she said thats what she wanted, so I may be done with that.

The wire on mine had no spring.  It was zip-tied to the back of the tour-pack support and just was flopping around.  Now the wire is tight.  I think thats why it is so solid there, pulled between the two points.

Thanks for the idea and pics Greg.  Good solution.

I hate the amp appearance under there.  Anyone come up with a cover?

I, too "did the deed".  Took 5 minutes and is solid.  Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

I had the same issue with a small scratch on the top of the saddle bag under the passenger com connection.  I am trying something that I think will prevent this from happening again.  I took the connection cord out of the little loop holder and routed it through the space behind the passenger seat, between the seat and back rest/tourpack.  I thin this will work as my wife will also be able to hook up without having to hook up before getting on the bike.  There is enough room so that I don't think it will interfere with her sitting.  We are taking a small trip this weekend and will let everyone know how it works, but at least it can't scratch the cover anymore. Here is a somewhat simple fix for the scratched saddle bag lid. After I noticed the same problem, I got fed up with the "hunting for the cable, and my wife asking for me to "PLUG HER IN". I kept thinking she wanted me to plug her!!!!!!!!! In any event, What I did is to remove the speaker from the left pod, removed all the connections out of the hole already drilled and found that there was space to install the cable thru the speaker pod. Here is what needs to be done:
First, remove the small ring from the cover of the cable. It is the metal ring under the spring loaded cover. Remove the cover.
Then you need to remove about 1/8" of the plastic behind the threaded part of the headset to allow you to put this thru a hole you are about to drill into your speaker pod.I used a 3/4" bit. Sorry, didn't get a pic b-4 install, but you should be able to figure out when you look at the problem.
Then you need to decide where to drill the hole. I decided the most space is next to the "MODE" switch on the pod. You only have one chance at this, so make sure this works for you. Then thread the cable into the speaker pod, then replace the speaker connections. You have to force one of the big connectors, but it works. Then thread the end of the connection thru the 3/4" hole drilled, and put the cover and ring back on. This makes for a very clean install.
Before you do this, go the your dealer, and demand that the lid be replaced under warrentee. My dealer agreed with me and a new lid is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!! They said everyones seuc had the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the moco will think about spending $1.50 more to make this solution. My wife's dad always said, measure twice, cut once!!!!!!!!!!!
see enclosed picture to show where the cable was installed.

Well done Golfhog103!   :D [smiley=drink.gif]  You are a brave man for trying what several of us talked about, but none of us yet had the courage to do... :-)

Hey Golfhog103, the MOCO took your idea!  I was able to see the '07 FLHTCUSE2 (and all the '07 bikes) and the new ultra has the same set up as yours!

The good news is it will retro fit!  The CVO guy I talked too said he didn't know if there would be a "kit" but it will work.  Once I get an '07 FLHTCUSE2 parts book, I'll post the part numbers for those who don't want to drill!

Tatto...that would be great! My lid didn't get scratched...yet, but the relocation is definitely something I want to do.

I had the same issue all are having with the passenger headset hitting the top of the bag and scratching.  I did a very simple fix;  I took the harness out of the clamp under the seat, and fed the connector up through the hole in the back of the seat, between the backrest and the seat.  It is easy for my wife to grab and connect/disconnect, and it stay away from the top of the bag. I left the spring on and just moved it.  Works great with no modifications required.  Will try to get a picture and post.
