How about a 20% CVO discount card H-D?
« on: February 12, 2006, 04:52:56 PM »

Hi folks,
Just food for thought and discussion. Don't you think since Harley-Davidson is monitoring this site we should approach them with the idea of offering a 20% discount card for all current CVO bike owners good for parts, clothes and service at all dealers?
Since they keep records of our vin#s it should be easy to issue and if they wish to repair some bad relations due to the paint problem as well as peeliing chrome on some bikes it seems like this would be a great way to demonstrate good faith from the MOCO and reward "their most valued, special owners".
I for one would rather have that card than a special key that is just collecting dust or other trinkets. If I have bought the most expensive bike Harley makes why do I have to wait for the one day a month at my local dealer to give me a HOG 15% discount or try and locate a dealer that gives 20% then pay for shipping etc.?
Maybe those who get factory or dealer surveys can request this 20% card in their remarks section and if enough owners request, it may get seen by someone who can make it happen? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Wish my dealer would do 15% off.

Guess your stealership sucks bad... sorry to hear it. At least at Pikes Peak HD in Colorado Springs we have a HOG appreciation nite. You know the old saying.... take your business where it's appreciated and let the others die on the vine.... :P

Here is a good one for you. My local dealer sent me a 20% discount card in the mail. It had hand written on it "expires Feb 08, 06. The post mark was Feb 09, 06 and I received it on the 10th.
So I plan to take it to the dealer tomorrow and thank him for his generosity. ;D And I'm also gonna to point out that as an owner of a CVO bike I should have the 20% off period, all the time.
Luckily I am fortunate enough to have a competing dealer close by and they have 20%  off store wide a few times a year. [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

I filled out a dealer survey today and put in the remarks area the idea for a CVO discount card good for any day. I bet it will fly like a lead balloon but what the heck. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I could actually care less about a manufacturer mandated discount.  The manufacturer seems to have its hands full just keeping up with after the sale service issues.  I only ask that the mftr do a good job; nothing less of course, but that's all I ask of it.  Individual discounts or other courtesies are just a way to measure which dealership wants our business the most.  But if it's mandated from the Motor Company we can't really tell who is appreciative and who is doing it just because they have to.

My stealer seems to fit the mold of the worst, from what I am reading. They used to give a 10% discount to all HOG members; a couple of years ago they decided to give the local chapter 12K a year and a few t-shirts, then drop the discount. I figure that saved them about 200K. And I am stuck because this stealer owns all 4 stealerships within 100 miles. There is one H-D awarded minority dealership a few miles down the road but they really don't know a motorcycle from a lawn mower. If fact, I understand H-D sells to dealerships based on a formular based on previous years orders against customer complaints. I think this dealer was sent 5 new bikes this year, all Sportsters.
I must admit it is very hard with my OCD but I am trying to buy online first. I'd rather wait a few days and order from Chicago than pi$$ money away to a stealer that certainly does not appreciate my business.
Forget the surveys, everyone with "bad" stealerships needs to buy from dealers like Chicago H-D. Eventualy the message will be delivered.

I either purchase on line from a dealer that gives a discount or thru Ebay.

I think of it this way:  When supply and demand was in their favor, what kind of a deal did they give me on a new bike?  Now that supply and demand is more in my favor, how should I reciprocate?

I like to support dealers who didn't try to rape me back when supply was tight.  The rest of them can go straight to you know where.  It is too easy to buy parts at a discount on the 'net (and without tax, but don't tell the state tax folks) for anyone to have to pay a dealer full price on a major purchase.

Two of my local dealers, the ones who were MSRP back when very few were, don't offer HOG discounts anymore, but they do run specials throughout the year where they offer 10%, 15%, and sometimes 20% discounts on parts and motor clothes along with entertainment, food, etc.  They have always shown appreciation for their customers, and that's why I support them.

That's a well thought out position...[highlight]However, I would still take the discount given my dealership requires attendance at the local HOG Meetings which I can not attend,[/highlight] nor have interest in doing so......
I understand this dilemma, as this is what my dealer does also. I can understand in one respect their position. People attending meetings, and club activities, makes for more club participation and should be rewarded. But on the other hand it's a 70 mile round-trip for me to attend meetings and they alternate from one month on Sunday mornings to next month on Tuesday nights. Of which neither are really practical for me to get to because of either family commitments (on Sundays) or work commitments on Tuesdays.

However they have numerous events and sales during the year that I normally try to attend to receive some kind of discount. Along with that you can earn bonus bucks for each dollar of merchandise purchased and can redeem them at certain intervals (more bucks you earn, higher redemption rate).

Hazer, it sounds like you are talking about the dealer that's closest to my house. I did the exact same scenerio with them a couple of years ago. Asked for a discount on a 3K order. They basically laughed in my face. Haven't bought anything there since I walked out that day. Under extreme situations, I will go there for a filter or o-ring as it's so close to my house, but if possible, I send my wife so I don't have to go in there.

My new dealer where I bought my bike doesn't give a whole lot either. 5% rebate quarterly on parts/labor. But it has to be spent there. They were however, very agreeable to install parts purchased elsewhere, even did some stuff free, and will use non HD stuff. In fact, most of the bikes on their floor have aftermarket pipes. Mostly V&H
