mastertune tts question about sensors
« on: May 19, 2010, 11:15:28 AM »

This may be a dumb question but i couldn't find anything in the instructions that talked about how you hook up your O2 sensors in your pipes to a pre 07.  Is there a kit or something that will hook the O2 sensors up to my 2006 seuc since it doesn't come with any of the controls for that?  I bought the tts but wasn't thinking about that.  I know all the other tuners give you the control module and the wires to go to your sensors.

All the information you need is on the last few pages of the TTS manual, part numbers included. The manual came with your software or you can download it from the TTS site. You also have the option to have an Indy Dyno guy put sniffers on and Dyno the TTS.

Maybe the auto tuners come with the sensors and wiring but the SEST and the TTS is only the VCI module. The conversion is not bad. If you are using stock head pipes then you can pick up a set pretty easy for an 07 or an 08 touring bike with the 02 bungs placements already welded in. Or, you simply take your pipes to a muffler shop with the 02 weldments and they can install them cheaply enough.

Ya your right i missed that page with the part numbers on it.  Was going through it to fast i guess.  As far as the sensors do most people just use the long leads for the front and the short lead sensor for the back?  Didn't see anything with lengths so was double checking.

They are the same length until 2010 going to a totally different style of sensor.

Caution... if you weld the bungs in, triple check their placement before welding. The front cylinder isn't too bad but the back one can be a real b*tch if the angle is wrong. It could hit the top of your starter or the head. HD started to angle the rear cylinder down in 08 making it more difficult to remove. Just measure the placements and the angles carefully with the pipes still on the bike, use a Sharpie to mark how it should be installed so the welder will understand.

wonder why on the parts list that tts gave part numbers for the o2 sensors with 3 different parts numbers that said have 3 different legnths.  I am guessing that the other numbers are to make your own wires to connect from your ecm to the o2 sensors so doesn't really matter what legnth you get anyways.

I don't have to weld any of the bungs either picked up some rineharts with them already in there.  Just was trying to have all the other parts here so i can get it all done in one shot.  read on some other forums that says the bosch o2 sensors from any auto parts store are the same ones we run also so you don't have to waste all the money at some harley stealer.

The sensors are the same... just the wire length difference.

Yup, have heard that same thing but I've always used the HD part to be sure I get the right sensor... with my luck I'd get one for a Yugo and my bike would stop at every protest rally.   :drink:

lol.  that would suck.  All the other forums said that bosch 12028 was the replacement for the narrow band.  Only difference is its just a little longer.  I like being able to get my stuff from any auto parts place since they are easier to find then harley and way cheaper.  Had to many old bikes and if stuff broke down was alot easier to cross reference all the stuff from regular vehicles that would work.

OK, you said you have the Rineharts... check the back 02 bung... if it is tilted down you may need the HD sensor. There is only about 1/2" of clearance to your starter top cover normally, again, if it is tilted down. So check the clearance before buying... If the generic 02 sensor is longer... ouch! I've had to pull rear head pipes to install sensors before... not fun.

Sounds like you have everything covered... good luck with your TTS tuning... you'll love it.
